I know that the GM performance exhaust is made by Borla, but is it the same system as the S-Type? I thought it was more like the Borla Touring system.

Driving the Gen 5 V6 didn't give you any frame of reference for the new one. I don't mean that as a slight-- I never would have believed it either until I test drove my 2016.

Subtracting 300lbs from the inertia of braking and cornering made a bigger difference than I expected. I guess that's partly why the V6 was faster around the Lightning Lap than the Mustang GT.

weight reduction, chassis stiffening, weight distribution, transmission. Definitely makes a difference even if engine power output remains the same.

V 6s have come a long way. They can keep up with the 60s and 70s muscle cars. Not neccesarily do to power but power management allows the use of all the power to be put to the ground due to efficient transmissions and tires mostly. For instance the old muscle cars had all the HP and Tq you needed but they just failed to efficiently use and put that power to pavement. No sticky rubber tires and very inefficient 2, 3 and 4 speed transmissions that would lose so much RPMs and momentum as they would shift to the next higher gear. Add some sticky tires and a good modern close ratio trans to an old 396 and it will run with the new SS Camaro but the gas mileage would still be 10 or 12 mpg.

I have the GM system and asked Lisa at Borla if I should upgrade to the S system for a little bit more noise. She wrote back and said not to upgrade, that essentially the GM system and borla S systems were the same.

Agreed it's night and day difference it would be way more comparable to the fifth gen SS in stock form than the 5tg gen V6 100%. The fifth gen SS would be slightly faster, like I've said before I don't know how many people have driven 4th gen SS or Z28 but that's what this car is like.
