Myself I wouldn't do it only because I seen a couple blow up from doing just that long hwy pulls. (main reason why I build a 416)
Date isn't to July 29th and 30th so depends how long you hold on to it. Then again I beat up my car all the time so I guess if this is true it might not even hold up till then. Didn't spend 12k on power adder to 1/8 mile pulls to be safe. So I will just live and learn.

Makes sense. Point taken.

I have many wide open 1+ mile pulls on my stock engine and it has not had a problem. I think my car has been over 180 mph at least 10 times and over 190 about 3 times. It probably takes 3 miles of wide open throttle to hit 190 in my car because it climbs so slowly after 180. It depends on the horsepower your engine makes. The closer you get to 700whp the more danger. You never know for sure when the engine is going to go but the longer you hold it open the more it is going to heat up. I would run the 1/2 mile with a whipple all day without batting an eye. Unless your car has a weak set of rings I really doubt it will be a problem at all.

I know aerodynamics will be more of a hindering factor compared with my C6Z. It put 550 to the wheels and I got 186mph in the standing mile. Since you've run multiple 1+ runs, in the Camaro, any guess as to what I can get to in a SS with 580 at the wheels?

I like this thread, I've often had no cars in front of me and wondered what I could get it up to, then reality kicked in and I had a kid in my car.
That's why I made that move first. This weekend the ECS kit is going on........

It runs through the first 5 gears pretty strong and hits 6th (direct 1 ratio) around 150 mph. It stays in 6th all the way to 190 but has a real hard time fighting the drag over 180. I'm pretty sure it should be able to do 155 or so in the half and close to 180 in the mile. If straight line runs were the only objective I think the auto car would be amazing if you swapped in the manual 3.73 rear but highway rpm and highway gas mileage would take a big hit.

So my M6 can get to 190, in 5th, with enough power. With near 600 wheel, maybe 180?

You have the Aeroforce gauge right? Pull your cat right hand bank temp up, IAT, Lambda, and boost. Those parameters will tell you if you're pushing it to far. Get out of the throttle if that happens then look at improving whatever it takes to keep that in check for th next.

Still hoping for some feedback on the possible issues. I don't want to spend $5-6K on a supercharger that I can't comfortably run in a mile event.
Do you go to many of the runway races at the airport off Industrial? I use to go to those a lot. I basically grew up in Farmersville lol. What speed did your Z get in the half mile?

Do you have a price in mind for your stock block yet? How many miles are on it?

I just left ADM talking about this issue, starting to see LT1 pistons failing on FI/SC cars, they have a Gen 6 that popped a piston. I am a little over 600 and 640 tq and run the car hard at the drags. The cars that have had piston issues have not done any head work and my theory is too much compression - 11.5. I had my heads opened up and running 10.3 psi on compression. I considered new forged pistons but think I will wait and see...

I have done several 1 and 1.5 mile WOT just to see how the car handles and gather data. My IATs have been 120-130 but have not seen a hot day yet. I think you will be good to go.

Anyone else seen any piston issues on SC LT1? The ring gap was measured on one of the pistons that blew and measured .013 and should be .030, may be an issue.

I've only been to the TX Mile. My Z ran 158 in the 1/2 and 186 in the mile.

That is respectable. If you throw a pro charger on your Camaro, you'll do better than 158 in the half I bet.
