ZL1 10 speed auto lightning quick shifts....
There is something to be said when your factory transmission is executing shifts in three tenths of a second with less than 1000rpm shift extensions!!!

How is the transmission shifting around town? Any clunkiness on downshifts like the 8 speeds in the corvettes and GMC Sierra/Denalis etc?

The A8 in my ats-v is clunky, this A10 is like butter everywhere in the rpms. It's night and day to the Cadillac. Definitely well done.

I only have 124 miles on our car, but the trans is insanely smooth around town and at wide open throttle. It is a huge improvement over the eight speed in the C7Zs/Trucks etc. My biggest concern was that the trans would be "confused" with so many gear changes, but it is nothing short of amazing so far.

I have about 750 miles on mine so far. I've done a very mixed set of driving including highway, city, country roads, stop and go traffic, etc. I haven't found a condition where the A10 didn't shine. No rough shifts. No clunkiness. Lightning fast shifts. This thing just always seem to be in the right gear at the right time. I'm thoroughly impressed.

It is still early to tell, but maybe they fixed some of their mistakes that the 8 speed suffered from.

Huh, my A8 in my Camaro ss is shifty Gonzales (awesome) and doesn't miss a beat. It kills in the quarter or on the street.

I think the shifting in the A10 ZL1 is nothing short of amazing. I have two 6 speed cars as well and I was concerned that the A10 would not be engaging. I went for it for racing. I was pleasantly surprised. It is quick. It is intelligent. It is fun in manual mode. Very engaging. Very cool..

The A8 is horrible in the Denali. Just fine in the Gen6 Camaro. I owned a 2016 Denali and ended up trading it in for a 2016 Tahoe just to get away from The A8

It seems that just the programming of the A8 really changes how well it performs. Maybe GM nearly got it perfect with the A8 programming for the 6th gen Camaro and then stepped it up even more with the A10?
Some people are mentioning clunky shifting with the A8 in vehicles besides the Camaro. I have never experienced clunky/abrupt shifts besides the first shift or two on a cold start. My issue is the delay in paddles/stick shifts, be it up or down (I would say 100-150ms) with 0-50% throttle and it slowly engages the gear, presumably to reduce wear and have very smooth shifts (I can't feel it shift at all). This isn't so bad, but if I put it in sport, or especially track mode, I would want it to have higher response shifts and much faster/abrupt shifts to minimize how long the lock-up clutch is disengaged. Bah, wish I could just slap in the A10 if it is as good as people claim. I am really curious since many of the new A10 owners are saying the same thing as the new A8 owners. Need actual videos to see what's up.

Ditto all the A10 accolades. This thing is un-real.
...and I hate an auto that won't shift right. Traded in my new Colorado in less than a year because all it did was hunt for gears. Nothing even close to that with the A10. |

Agree here. The little I've been able to run with her the shifts are lightning fast and smooth as silk!! The most impressive tranny I've ever driven so far... Driven GTR's, Porsche PDK's, and GM 8's. Nothing compares to this tranny. It's a game changer period !

Exactly... I have the same 6 speed in the Silverado I traded out for an can feel it shifts the same. Difference is more power which over rides any shift delays.
