blacked out bow ties

I couldn't believe the cost of the black ties and I didn't like the idea of drilling the factory pieces. I blacked mine out with 3M dinoc. I used masking tape to trace the shape then cut the dinoc to the approximate shape with scissors. I wiped the area with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Then heated with a hair dryer and pushed in the edges with my fingers and a credit card. 45 minutes, $20 and I have most of the sheet of dinoc left. I meant to order just plain black but accidentally ordered the matte carbon fiber. Still like the way it looks so probably not going to bother changing it.

Good call. My testors paint is scraping off.. I could probably clear-coat it though, too which I might try first since I already have the black paint.

My Di-Noc is fading around the edges. You can start seeing the gold again. Sucks!

I would bet it's shrinking rather than fading but any things possible.

My car had the OEM black bowties on the lot. They are expensive if you want to retrofit your car, but I can vouch for the quality.

They are a bit pricey but these by Phastek are machined from an aluminum block.

I am assuming you would have to drill / remove the existing gold insert if these in fact are just the insert themselves? They look REALLY nice! Thanks

Yes, remove the gold insert and these attach with double sided tape.
