you dont need to do the "ok google" thing if your phone is connected to the car (either via bluetooth or if using Android auto.
Just hold the speak button on your steering wheel down for a few seconds (you'll hear a ding) and this will prompt the phone to listen to the mic rather than mylink. You then just say whatever the command is you want and go from there. No need to say "ok google". Then you can turn off always listen so your phone doesn't accidentally catch phrases during songs and such and pause everything while it times out waiting for your command. btw, Waze can't come fast enough. I'm sick of Google Map's nonsense insistence on making avoiding toll roads incredibly inconvenient or simply unavailable. That and the stupid robo voice they force you to use. Idiotic. |

Need some help AA. Trying to get it set up and for some reason its not connecting a 100%. Every time i try to text someone . It's say's " When if Safe unplug your phone and go to notification". I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. It's weird because all my recent calls come up. At first i thought it was the wire.So i tried my Wife phone in her car "ATS" with the same wire. Works fine. Mesg came up on her phone to access the phone. I hit yes and done. But mine just tells me to unplug my phone.

Even though the cable works in another car, make sure the cable is good quality, do not use a 3rd party cheap cable. I always use manufacturer cables only. Have seen too many phone batteries crap out and issues with phones due to crappy 3rd party cables. Ebay sells OEM cables real cheap, just bought a 3 pack of Samsung cables, (wall charger, cigarette lighter adapter, and a USB cable, all Samsung OEM), for like $9 with shipping.

Check amazon, too. At least there you can read the reviews. Some vendors specifically sell their cables as charging cables, not data cables. You want a data cable.

Yeah Amazon is good too. If you get the actual OEM cable, it is designed for data/charging typically.

cable quality is extremely finicky with android auto. Sometimes it helps to open android auto first and then plug in. Certain prompts on your phone may need to be followed that you haven't checked "ok" to.
If you get the prompt to share media with the car when you plug in but no aa prompt, then trying the above may work - as the cable is obviously a data cable that is operating in that case. |

The few times I have used AA, it has flaked out a couple of times even with an OEM cable, just uplug replug, reestanlish the connection and all is good.

I've tried using Android Auto but I usually leave my phone connected to the car via bluetooth. I have it mounted so that I can easily see it to use Waze. For music i use DoubleTwist to sync my iTunes playlists to my phone. Doubletwist also works with Android Auto
