1SS Non Bose front "component" speaker help??
I'm in the process of upgrading my factory stereo. I've already installed a lc7i, SWR-12 Sub, and Alpine PDX-V9. I have a Hertz HSK 165.4 component set I have yet to install. From the factory amp it sends one signal to the tweeter and midrange speaker on each side. My question is where does the signal split to feed the tweeter? I'm trying to figure out where to stage the crossover without having to run all new wire.

I can't speak with 100% certainty but, the Gen5 front tweeters are simply split off from the door speakers and the crossover is built into the tweeters. I'm assuming the Gen6's are the same. If you're swapping out both the door speakers and tweeters, you can use the existing wiring in the door. You would just have to have the new crossover mounted inside the door and connect the speaker wire coming from the back (that previously connected to the door speaker) to the input of the crossover, have a new short run of speaker wire going to new door speaker from the crossover, and use the existing wire going to the tweets and connect that to the tweet output of the crossover.
I think I did a write up of that whole build on the camaro5 audio forum, if you wanted to do a search there.

Ok Thanks. I was hoping to not have to run another wire through that grommet in the door...looks like a pain in the ass, but that might be the only way. The only other way I see doing it is to find the wire before it goes in the door and tap the wire, then I'd still have to run a new wire to the tweeter but at least I can do it inside the car.

You don't really have to if you use the wires that are already there. However, the wires will most likely need modifying to adapt them to the new tweeter. If you're never going to go back to the original tweeter then just modify the existing wire. In my original write up for the 5th gen, I, for some reason, thought I might eventually go back to factory if I sold it or traded it in, so I kept the factory wiring in tact. I ended up selling it with the upgraded speakers so, running the new wire was kind of a waste.
