I too prefer the look of the V6 RS to the SS. Cleaner hood and front, no wing spoiler. Just a much classier look. That being said I bought the V6 because of price, and if I wanted to spend more I would have got the V8.

The way I see it as a car guy (just my opinion) not necessarily right or wrong for anyone else, is if I can't get the V8 in a pony car then I'd just buy a Honda Accord V6, or G37 or similar. I went through a phase where I thought I was over the fast car lifestyle and wanted to be more practical and looked at other cars (which did nothing). I was strongly considering a used 2011-13 Audi S4. Not the fastest thing in the world but still fun awd, fuel efficient, and somewhat luxury.

meh. I look at someone cross shopping a sports car with a honda accord as not a car person at all because those cars are nothing alike and that decision should not be an actual thought in your mind at the stage where you're ready to buy.

If i couldn't get the fastest thing available, my desire for going fast doesn't disappear and now I want a car with totally different attributes. It would be the next closest thing to what I would ideally want but can't for whatever reason have.

I dont know, I guess i just can't get into the mindset of that level of crazy thought.

Test drove a 1SS last night. I could see the V6 appeal as the SS is almost too much power for the street. With that said, I don't think I want to test drive a V6 after the SS.

It's the torque bro.. I can't even shift at 3k rpm on the streets without going over the speed limit (Being serious too!).

V6, 2.0T is a great car to daily drive and it's practical with good looks to boot. My M6 SS is the least practical car I ever own lol I can't imagine driving it daily, in traffic, cold starts in the AM, etc.

Granted mine is a weekend car, it's a toy. As a matter of fact, I would love to have a V6/2.0T to daily drive as well. In a perfect world I'll own both lol

I've always been a bike guy, and up until recently, 2 wheels were so much faster than any normal car, it was pointless for me to try buying a fast car, and quite a bit cheaper. In fact I've had a $4k old CBR600 as a track-only bike for quite a while, and it probably costs 1/5th of what a car would cost for a weekend at the track.

The cars have caught up quite a bit in performance nowdays, but even my relatively slow Harley V-Rod will smoke any stock SS. Yes it would be cool to have the V8, but it just doesn't make sense for some people.

This is one of the reasons I went with the V6, I truly love the look of the Camaro. I live in the IE and travel mostly around LA county areas it takes me over an hour to get to work on the weekdays because of the horrible traffic, when I make the same drive on the weekends or late nights it takes me maybe 15 minutes at most. Since this was going to be my DD the V8 just did not seem logical for me to have a higher car and insurance payment to just sit in traffic 5 days a week. I wanted a car that had some power to pass people if need be and something I liked looking at outside my window lol.

I did give the V8 a real thought then my boss asked me when will I actually have the chance to push it, and realized he was right. Which was funny because he owns a 2016 Charger Scat pack but then again that is not his DD and he has an unlimited track pass lol.

I don't get the "V8 or might as well buy an Accord" mentality. You still get a decent V6 in a very nice RWD chassis. Just because you didn't spring for the V8 doesn't mean to have to relegate yourself to a FWD platform.

I think the 3.6 timing chain issues were resolved a few years ago, so I don't really see a reason to shun the V6. It all depends on what you want out of the vehicle. The engine still makes 335 HP and 284 lb/ft of torque. For some people, that's plenty. Especially when you consider you can get the V6 for under $30K. Yes, you don't get the V8 rumble or its lowend grunt, but the car isn't a slouch by any means.

Is the 6spd on the V6 the same as the V8? I loved the V8...the torque and sound were really nice....even if I wasn't pushing it. But I'm tempted to drive a V6 w/NPP and 6spd. All dealer had were autos for the V6 last night.

Part of me says though if I'm gonna deal with this tiny back seat and semi-cramped cockpit, I'm gonna make up for it with this sick engine...lol. Yes it's a bit of the go big(gest) or go home thoughts creeping in my head.

Also almost every '17 Camaro V6, I've run across MSRP's at around $32K. So maybe you can get them to high 20s. But a Mustang GT base V8 with 435hp is low 30s. I test drove a base auto they were going to sell me for $32K. I think I'd prefer that for roughly the same ballpark vs a V6 Camaro. Now if the V6 Camaros were around $25K....different story.

I was thinking base gt or a Camaro v6 also....but that tiny screen in the mustang is crap. I was able to get a 16 v6 for 22k so it was a no brainer for me. I still do want to try out a manual ss though... I liked the automatic ss, but the fun factor isn't the same for me in an automatic.

I'm sure you can probably negotiate the base v6 down to 25k...don't know about the loaded ones though.

With the 20% off deal, people were getting the 1SS down to $30-$31K. I didn't check the V6 prices, but a 1LT would HAVE to be in the mid-20s at that point.

I don't know if the V6 got the TR6060. I doubt it, but I could be wrong.

I didn't start looking until recently. There are no 16s within 500 mi of me except verts which I don't want. 17s so far only been getting about $2500 off max so far.

The 20% off deal was for the 16s. They'll do the sale again on the 17s. Just have patience. No point in paying 20% more than you need to.
