N/A HP Upgrade Question
My "Search-fu" isn't strong. If this topic has been discussed point me in the right direction please. Now on to the question.
I want to squeeze as much N/A horse power out of the 1LE's power plant. I have read in a few places that any thing you do to the power train will void the warranty. I planned on these few upgrades: Cold Air Intake Long Tube Headers Performance Exhaust Professional Tune Camshaft Not necessarily in that order. So my question is, does anyone have any hard proof of the warranty policy? Once again, please be gentle.

As long as your service manager isn't an asshole (check first!!!) the first 3 shouldn't be an issue. The tune and cam would 100% void it.

Long tube headers would be a warranty issue for sure as they replace/move the cats...

Nope. You change the cats, bye bye warranty. Anything emissions related is going to void the warranty for sure, especially if you mess with the cats.

Weird how 455HP is not enough
A car that outhandles $250,000 exotics.Rotofab and maybe an axleback. Take your 20hp-30hp gain and be happy.

Keep in mind there is no such thing as "voiding the entire warranty".
Now if you tune and cam the motor and then blow a piston ring, they are not going to replace that under warranty. But if you tune it and have a faulty brake caliper or something, they don't have anything to do with each other. What you mod on the car has to be related to the faulty part being denied warranty. Now of course tuning, takes a chance with the entire motor, but isn't some paper you are going to get in the mail saying "your whole warranty is now void, signed Ford" |

Are there even any reliable tuners out there working with the 17's new tune? Last I heard they were able to crack it, but haven't heard much from people running tunes on their 17+ cars yet.
I have a good relationship with my service dept, and they never had an issue with what I did to my 15. (I never brought it back for a warranty claim though, but the service manager said as long as I didn't bring it back with a hole in the block, he'd get it covered) |

I have heard some dealers are ok with a set of LT headers, but tune and especially camshafts are a no go.
A buddy of mine got his rear main seal replaced under warranty on a heads cam G8...not sure how though... |

There is a hot cam kit from GM. Only way to keep the warranty with a Cam.

Cats are part of the exhaust, which is directly related to the drivetrain. Change or remove your cats, then go to your dealer with an engine problem and tell me what they tell you. Also, remember tampering with the cats is tampering with emissions, which is also a federal thing. Hey, don't get me wrong, I have done it in the past, but don't do it expecting to keep your full powertrain warranty in tact. Doesn't matter how good your relationship is with your dealer, as a major engine issue would have to be approved by the regional folks anyway...just saying.
