Another PDR question...
Apologies if this is repetitious & belongs in the stupid questions but gotta ask about this PDR since I have no experience with one of any sort.
I plan on getting it as I do want to track the car & will have more questions on that when it's appropriate, but those of you with PDR's now...do you have an application beyond the track where the recorder has added value or useful on the street?? Honestly not all sure what it brings to the table in whole. Thanks. |

I would think for accidents and witnessing crimes... Not sure if it will hold up in court tho

If you go on a spirited drive with say yourself or group. I'm in a car club here and we take cruises all over the place. Normally I would use my Gopro but it is more of a pain to deal with and the battery life sucks. The PDR is going to be a whole lot easier.

Too bad about the quality. 1080p would be nice. I'm thinking of buying a blackvue system front and rear.

KLR,
The PDR only films to the front with a display of the RPM's / Speed?? There is no camera in the interior pointing towards the dash area like you see on the track vids using the go pro?? ~~~~~ Boiler, Surprised to hear about the quality, for $1500 I would think it would be nice...I'm assuming the aftermarket you speak of is only for the vid portion?? You want the PDR due to it's chatting with the car's performance, correct?? Not sure what all comes for that $1500. |

As for non-track applications, I think the PDR also has a 'valet mode' to essentially act as a nanny cam for when you hand the keys off to someone else.

was the question about a mirror view mirror mounted radar detector ever answered? Does it get in the way of the PDR?

How long does the PDR record for in valet mode? Can we put in an sd card or something for extra storage? Will it loop and delete automatically?

You have to insert an SD card to record with it at all and yes it will automatically record over the oldest recordings once it's full. I'm not sure about how long it will record in valet mode. I don't know if it would all depend on the size of the SD card and the video resolution or if it has any kind of time limit. Pretty sure it will only record when it is started. Maybe someone that already has one with PDR can answer those questions.

Just a generic video found on YouTube but it shows the capability of using it in daily driving.

I am the OP amigo...I had planned to get it (just to have it) but not gonna lie to ya. Simply oblivious (ignorant) to the PDR's overall functions & advantages compared to what I saw the gopro do on the vids on the ring & why I'm asking the goofy questions.
Honestly, I am not a gadget guy...I use my iPhone for talking, texting & a little bit of web surfing, yet they tell me it has more muscle than my desk top. Hell, this ZL1 may force me to use the hands free for the first time. I really think I may have been born a few decades too late. I'll check the ones here & also go find the vette pdr vids and feel kinda silly for not considering this on the front end...again, stubborn on the gadget crap I guess. Thanks. Quote:
