I was thinking about this slip sensation you guys are describing and then I remembered watching video of the initial reviews for the Ferrari 488, it has something called SSC (Side slip angle control) which softens the dampers in the rear to help find traction under load. The reviewers (more than one) described a sensation that sounds similar to what you are talking about. Then I remembered that the 488 has very similar MRC dampers from Delphi, maybe SSC (or something very similar in code base) is just a software enhancement that can be added to any Delphi MRC deployment and not necessarily proprietary to Ferrari.

I read about that system on the 488, it did seem like it could be just software but you never know with these things. I would imagine the sensation is a bit similar - only Camaro doesn't have the system and everything flexes side-to-side as well as up-and-down. BMR has a few videos of the suspension during some hard driving, filmed with a gopro attached to the bottom of the car.

GM does have some brilliant chassis engineers, maybe they thought it all out and the flex is engineered into the car. I just didn't like the way it feels, knowing exactly what the car is doing and being able to control is is a big part of driving a proper sports car. I'm not going to set any lap records anyway.

I might call Pete at BMR and ask for his input - he seems like a solid, no BS kinda guy.
Nice! Wish I could get that much track time.

It all depends on you tolerance of a stiff ride and some extra NVH. That's always the issue with balancing a daily/track car.

I'm sure the guys at BMR will have good answers for you.

I talked to BMR and they agree - this is a thing.

According to them, the back end winds up enough under hard acceleration to change the drive angle - especially with the right wheel - and cause the rear end to go to the right.

I've felt this as well. At first I thought it was tires breaking loose, ever so slightly. Since I have my winter tires on already (less than a month after I bought the car, heh) I figured they were the culprits. I'd be interested to see if any suspension upgrades make a difference or if it's just something I should get used to. I'll have to learn not to lift as soon as I feel it, which should be interesting and something I've never had to deal with before...

stock 2016 2ss manual. - I have done a race alignment, wheels tires and lowering springs.
I feel what your describing on my 4th gen (with '99 1LE suspension). This is one of the main reasons that I wanted to upgrade to a 6th gen, so your comments are a little discouraging. I'll need to test drive one to feel this for myself!

Mine for sure in 2nd fishes out towards the right until I let go of the gas. 7k on the tires, look like they have enough life left. Then again, tires were cold and the car could be fully broken in.

I have noticed this too and it's not wheel spin. I don't track but it's happened at least three times on the same exact "area" where can I do some spirited acceleration. I figured something was going to break eventually. But your response from BMR sounds plausible.

Are you guys certain you're not getting any wheel spin when it happens? Mine never does it with TC on, but if it's off and you just stomp on the throttle it will step out a little. Either way, I think it's completely normal as there's a lot of power being sent to those rear wheels under WOT.

it's definitely way better than a 4th gen. I was comparing mine to my previous car with an all aluminum rear subframe/suspension with stiff poly bushings. I like my sports cars to be stiff and communicative, the stock 2SS rear end is more GT car though... a very good and well sorted GT car that puts the smackdown on an M4
