I'm not 100% certain but would say they are both mid's and highs because the door 6x9's are acting as subs.

(thanks matt713) I had a heck of a time tuning this amp. I havent run car audio since 2001 and man there is so much more to these amps. I finally got the gain (input sensitivity) set with no clipping and it now sounds great.

You were right too matt713 I had a heck of a time getting that JL HO box in and sitting up. Might have to look at some low pass filters for the front and maybe even another amp and front speakers all together.
Glad you were able to get it all hooked up. Wish I could provide more advice on using the signaling input portion of the amp but I have not used that method before on a JL amp. The only I can think of to double check is that you moved the "Input Voltage" switch to High

yeah I was a little nervous after my first attempt at putting the box in the trunk, I actually removed the rubber gasket seal at the top part of the trunk to get it in. But hey it fits and that's all that matters.

Just a hunch, but I bet you will be adding another amp and replacing speakers soon!!!!!! I know how much bass that sub and box combo makes (Plus you have 100 more watts feeding it than I do!) You will be looking for more mids and highs to go along with it!!!!!

Sorry haven't posted any updates, been really busy with work since storm Hermine. My work has a satellite office in Tallahassee so that's had a lot of my time. Getting caught up now and should have some updates coming soon. I do have a couple things I want to share.

I am keeping them so when I trade the car in, I can remove my C5's and put the stock ones back in.

What did you make the door 6.5 adapter out of. You were right about upgrading after that sub. Just picked up a xd400/4 and trying to figure out what I am going to do. I am thinking I might run just the 4 front speakers off it. Not sure though. Going to run the factory bose speakers until I kill them or after a few months I'll upgrade. It seems the doors are mostly bass and the mids/highs are coming from those small speakers in the dash.

I thought all of the speakers in the sixth gen mounted to the plastic interior panels rather than the exterior body. I guess that is wrong.

Right now my stock bose setup is vibrating all the interior plastic panels.

So my first mod will be fixing that issue before upgrading speakers or adding amps after the Bose.

I assume there is no after market solution for the proprietary audio protocol in order to replace the Bose amp?

I used half inch particle board to make the 6.5 adapters. I put the stock speaker face down and traced the 6x9 to give it its shape. Then used a few self tappers to mount the adapters to the door. You are correct, the door speakers are only bass and the mids/highs are coming from the dash and also the speakers in the side panels behind the driver and passenger seat.

In my car those 6x9's in the doors acting as sub drivers were vibrating and rattling everything in my door panel and was driving me crazy!!!!! Putting a coax speaker in the door got rid of that. As far as I am aware we can not get rid of the Bose amp. Not saying someone cant do it but it controls other things such as back up sonar, door chimes, turn signal sounds, sounds for Android auto/car play so I think we are stuck with it.

can you post info for your entire install? Equipment used/observations/etc? I knew you were experimenting with different things..

The OEM door speakers are 6x9 but I made a similar choice and used 6.25 Focals in door with tweeter flush below door handle and switches. There is a lot of depth available. I'm putting 6x9s in rear deck and I will not use rear quarter panel speakers. Also put sub in spare well. Should finish this weekend.

I have a new 2SS on its way tomorrow. Interested in a little guidance about options re: the speaker situation. I have very little interest in sticking with 6x9s anywhere really since the upgrade path there for anything good quality is highly limited. I also don't have interest in rear fill and would likely get rid of the rear side panel speakers.

Goal: Full range 6" or 7" components (or coaxials) for the front. Eliminate rear fill. Replace whatever is in the rear deck with free air bass drivers. I don't need the system to be super loud. More concerned with improving the quality.

If the outputs from the bose amp are full range, I might be content enough, initially at least, keeping the bose amp and oem wiring and just swapping out the speakers. However, i was under the impression that bose systems usually had some frequency response shaping to improve the sound of their junky speakers. True? How does one get around this issue other than using a DSP of some kind on the speaker level outputs from the bose amp?

Very interested in the harness option that was discussed earlier in the thread as well. Can anyone describe this solution a bit better for a newb, please?

Also, any more information about what is in the rear deck would be helpful. Am I correct in thinking that those are 6x9s too?

No?
The Crutchfield web site says it "Does not fit" the 2016 or 2017 Camaro with Bose system.
