Greetings all.

I owned a 2000 SS (many mods) and a 2004 SVT Cobra.

I drive a big turbo Focus ST currently and it's been a blast.

I want(ed) a Mustang 350R to replace my ST. I had one on order until the dealer told me it was MSRP + $25k.

I have a 1LE on order currently, but saw 2 Ford dealers near me had 350Rs on the lot.

I called both today. One is asking $30k over. The other is $27.5k.

I'd buy a Grand Sport if I wanted to spend $88k.

As mich confidence as I have in the 1LE (performance wise) if you are more worried about strictly performance then GT350R vs. Vette GS is a closer comparison.

I too have a 1LE on order, I can't freakin wait to get my hands on it! But if I had $60-70k to spend my choices would be GT350R(if you could find one with minimal mark up), ZL1, and Vette GS. And of those 3 I think the Vette would be my choice.

grondsport is all about handling bits and pieces and ceramic brakes etc of the z06 why not just get a zo6????? the GTR is 100k in most parts at that point your into a whole other league vs the 1le which is by far the biggest bang for the buck but the zo6 prob the best big jump under 3.0 zero to sixty touching the super car class the Gt R is just lighter version of the shelby 350

I think you just figured out why the ADM on the Shelby will be gone in another few months. The Grand Sport Corvette is a much better track car, and if you go easy on the options list can be had for about $70K with the Z07 bits.

There were some regular 2016 GT350s going for sticker in August. By next August you'll be able to get a regular GT350 for under sticker, and you might be able to find a GT350R for sticker.

I'm a Mustang guy from way back, but I'd get a Grand Sport in a heartbeat before I paid ADM for a GT350.

Grans Sports are a hot item right now, just like the Z06 was, but if you wait until August, you'll be able to get one for under sticker as a walk in. I just looked up for my area and there are seven Grand Sports listed, but all have automatics. One has no options and is high 60's, and there is one that only has Z07 and the automatic for $77K. With supplier and some negotiation, I'm guessing you could get a base Grand Sport for $64K and a Z07 for $71K. If I had a choice between a GT350R or a Grand Sport Z07 for about the same price, it would be a tough call. The Grand Sport is a better car, but the GT350R will be worth a lot more in ten years.

This would be great, but I highly doubt this will ever occur, not even once.

I ordered my Grand Sport/Z07 back in August and paid just over $70K it has some other options including Competition Seats (they're great!). I'm very impressed with the car. Great performance and quality. If you're looking to track or mountain/canyon carve it's IMO unbeatable.

ADM are stupid high for that car. Very stupid to spend 20k+ over msrp. Bad financial decision

I'm in the GS vs 1LE boat...

For me it's come down to 2 big arguments...

First is value/smiles/performance per dollar ...
$45k before discount (and I'm getting supplier on either car) for a 1LE, and $76k for a GS (2LT trim + options I want) 60% more
Is the GS going to be 60% better performing? 60% more fun? I kinda doubt it really. I also feel that a set of brake pads and PSC2 tires on a 1LE would put it basically nipping at the heels of a (non Z07) GS everywhere but in a straight line because of weight.

Second is basically options/ameneties...
I feel like this argument would go away completely if they made a 2SS 1LE, as I'd like heated/vented seats, nav, and a nicer stereo. I know it'd add weight, but I like that stuff and this is my only car so the idea of having it would be nice. Specifically an upgrade stereo, dual zone (since the GF is always colder than me). Basically all the stuff the GS has and the 1SS doesn't even offer.

Ultimately I'm likely to order a 1LE this week as upgrading speakers is easy enough, and I can likely use the phone's nav with android auto. Maybe I can figure out a way to get ZL1 heated/vented recaros to work in a 1LE someday too haha. And $30k extra goes a long way with my business and mods, etc.

NO , more like back seat delete, carbon fiber wheels and a bit better suspension the time differences are like .2 and .3 hardly worth the 25k upgrade

Overall the GT350 and GT350R are extremely similar in many ways. The main differences are carbon fiber wheels, backseat delete, A/C delete, and more aggressive aero. The GT350R is also rarer, making it more of a collectors item.

As cool as it would be for the R version to have an even more insane engine, it doesn’t. The GT350 and GT350R share the same insane 5.2L flat plane crank V8 that outputs 526 horsepower. Engine, transmission, and everything associated to the power train are 100% identical between these two. Pretty hard to beat that engine, especially for the price of the GT350 and GT350R.

Local dealer in San Jose quoted $12.5k for 2017 350 (no R). $25k for 350R. Yikes!
