eliminating the deadzone will give you a big shot of confidence, I bet. I hate the deadzone and plan on tuning it out once I feel like voiding my warranty. at least one other forumer as done it and gets instant throttle response and no fear of stalling. as for the smooth shifting, keeping the active rev matching on and keeping only one foot on the clutch or gas at a time when shifting will keep it smooth enough

OP - I was in your shoes when I got my M6 SS. Had't driven a manual in 15 years, first performance vehicle, etc... Mine too is not a DD and I was stressed at first when I would drive it. After work, I'd go for short drives to get used to the clutch, and visibility. Now after 4 months, I can drive this beast with no issues and no stress. Just give it time and drive it more. It will become second nature .

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it but the manual transmission just stresses me out every time that I drive it. Because of this, I do not enjoy it like I should. I know that if I were to trade it into a dealership, I'm looking at about a $10,000 loss. The car is worth more than I owe on it.

Any thoughts?
I can understand... I practically have the same car (with 4000 miles on it) and a 70 mile per day commute with about 40 minutes per day in stop and go traffic.

Sure, buzzing around with big engine and manual trans is a blast... it would be even better if it were LEGAL to blast around!

but as a daily driver with traffic... shifting gets old. To stop and go by pushing the gas pedal for commuting is just nice. It is not a matter of skill... you just wanna chill.

nothing wrong with having a Camaro SS with an automatic... it is still a very cool car. (but yeah, taking the loss and getting ANOTHER SS... I think I'd be getting out of it at that point and say "well that was fun..." (but I still have my truck and motorcycle so that's just me)

Exactly, it is fun when I am driving spiritedly but when I just want to relax and get from A to B it can be stressful.

Admitting that I am not happy is difficult and makes me sad as well. Right now I am just going to keep at it and hope that I become more comfortable driving it.

We should ask the mods for a separate section just for the "internet bully/my Johnson is bigger than your Johnson" guys so they can all take turns trying to one up each other.

Dude, your shit is lame. Run along.

OP - good luck with the decision.

Suggestion: Give yourself one month to think this through and try driving the Camaro more during that period especially if can find a few spots in the daily commute to safely rip a few gears just to keep it fun and exciting. If after that you are still stressed and not enjoying the driving experience then go ahead and find a way to make a change.

OK, trying to help here, and I don't know enough about you or your driving style so not sure what will help.

Don't be tentative, make the car do what you want. Don't freak if you stall. Don't try to drive it like your motorcycle, the clutch action and everything are very different. If no one is with you don't care if you are "smooth". Maybe try shifting at higher RPMs even when accelerating slowly and see if it is smoother and makes you happier. With all the power and torque the Camaro is pretty forgiving about whatever gear you put it in, you aren't going to hurt it unless you try to jam it in a really low gear at a high speed.

Do you stall starting out sometimes / frequently?

Am I correct in assuming the motorcycle does NOT stress you out?

Do you watch the RPMs closely, glance occasionally or shift based on sound?

You mentioned only one pair of footwear works, can you explain in more detail? Do your feet slip off the pedals, do your legs feel uncoordinated, does your body position feel uncomfortable, are you a really large shoe size?

Do you rest your left foot on the Dead pedal or hover over the clutch?

Where does your right hand rest? On the shifter, steering wheel, somewhere else?

On the advice side that may help.... I shift 1st to 3rd every time for "regular" driving... very smooth, plenty of power, even at less than 20mph. try it.

(1st to 2nd only needed for maximum go go go)
