I took my daughter's carseat to the test drive. She's two, I'm 5'8" and it all fitted just fine. Plenty of room in the trunk for stroller, bags etc too. Is it the most practical family car? No. Will it cope? Yes.

He was laying to the side most of the trip, so yeah head room is an issue, but honestly any person under 5'6" should be comfortable with head room and leg room in most cases. Fitting two adults in the backseat is probably the worst scenario, it's possible but the driver isn't going to be in the most comfortable driving position. I don't see any issue with two children.
I 5th gen has more room in the back seat than a gen 6 does.

I'm new to this forum and am seriously considering getting a 2SS vert. I currently drive an 08 vette with all the bells/whistles (Z51/NPP/3LT/glass roof/etc) and we just had our first kid. My only other vehicle is a work vehicle. My wife has a SUV, but obviously I will need something with a backseat too. One of our favorite things was going on road trips or just a short drive around where we live with the roof off in the vette. This is definitely something we would like to continue but of course include our son as he gets older. So I have a few questions for everyone.

I'm 6'0 and my wife is 5'5
Will a child seat fit in the back seat?
How long can a child (or perhaps two) comfortably fit in the back seat?
The trunk is small, but can you fit enough stuff for a week long trip in it?
Just how bad is the visibility?
Anything I should know about the car before going any farther in this?

I did go look at them in the dealership and was super impressed with them, especially with the 16% back on certain ones. My biggest concern is the back seat/ lack of trunk room. I did not take it for a test drive because I wanted to wait til I was more serious and discussed it with the wife.

Thanks in advance for any help
I've had my 2SS vert for three weeks, as of today. I'm 5'8", and my legs aren't that long. If you have legs that extend beyond the seat bottom of the rear seat, you will NOT want to sit behind me. However, my 12 year old niece fit comfortably behind the passenger seat with it scooted forward (not all the way).

A child car seat will fit in the rear seat. There are lower anchors on both sides. One important note: The convertibles do NOT have an anchor for the top tether of a car seat. If your state law requires you to use the top tether, this is not the car for you.

Backing into the space also helps.

Driving really isn't a problem. You get used to it pretty quickly.
I'm not sure how well they work in a parking lot, as I typically back into parking spots (unless they're the angled variety), but the 2SS (not sure of other trim levels) is equipped with rear cross traffic sensors. I've had them alert me of oncoming cars when backing out of my driveway, with cars parked on either side of my driveway.

I have a child in a rear-facing seat and expect to have another one in the future. We had the same question as you, so we got a vert for a 24 hour test drive and pulled right out front of Babies R Us. We tried two car seats (rear-facing) and installed them in the rear seat. The passenger seat does have to move forward some, but the rear car seat fits in the back and I can still fit in the passenger seat (I'm 6'). Key is to go into the passenger seat with your legs straight and you'll get them in.

Being in the passenger seat with the rear seat behind isn't roomy, but I was still comfortable even though I was in a more upright position. Needless to say it went well, and we bought the smaller of the two child seats that day. We have a 2SS A8 vert on order now!

A little bit more, but not drastically different.

I had 5 adults in my Camaro earlier this month, but to be honest: It was a short trip back to a hotel from a bar, and one of them was in the trunk.

I have video of it somewhere on my phone, but the conservative-looking lady working the night desk at the hotel looked about ready to call the police when the attractive blond girl climbed out of the trunk in the hotel carport.

My 9 and 6 year old sit back there all the time in those $15 booster seats. My son is more comfortable as his legs are long enough that his knees are at the end of the seat and his lower legs can bend comfortably and his feet go under the front seat. My daughter has to turn her feet one way or the other. I kinda wish the bottom section of the rear seats didn't come out so far, but I assume thats b/c of the 19 gallon gas tank underneath them. But, its more than doable, my kids never complain, and they love going in my 2016 SS.

Welcome to the forums. These are some of the most hotly debated topics that have unfortunately been beaten to death with no real consensus. You're going to end up with a 10 page thread by the end of the week with extremely differing opinions.

I know you aren't serious about buying the car, but rather than listen to other people's opinions, go back to the dealership, sit in it a lot longer. Maybe bring your kid to test it out. Then decide for yourself.

This makes about as much sense as asking somebody if a pair of shoes fits them well before you buy the exact same one. Their feedback is pretty useless. Like shoes, you're allowed to try out a car before you buy it, so why not take advantage of that?

If the driver isn't under 5'6", no one is fitting in that back seat. Seriously. I'm 6'5" and the only thing that could fit in that back seat is groceries.

I put my 2 year olds car seat in the back on occasion. Having the older kids in the back does force me or the passenger to move the seats up a little. But it is functional!

My family of 4 first fine. 10 yr old, 6 yr old in a booster. That being said, you really dont want it to be your primary family car.
