Who runs Regular gas here?
As the title says. With premium being 70-80 cents higher than regular where I live. Im curious if anyone runs 87 vs 93? Any performance issues?

I do not run anything except for 93. I would assume that you can "safely" run a lower octane if you don't care about it retarding the timing or limiting the boost. You're going to knock if you push the car running lower octane and if you knock the car is going to pull power.... or detonate.... hopefully pull power....

I paid for 295ft/lbs and want it so i run esso's 94 octane (up to 10% ethanol)... A pain as 91 is all i can get in my home town and surrounding areas. I bring back 100 liters once or twice a month with me in the truck (work in the Toronto area). The 80-90 cents extra is insane though! Up here 93-94 will run you 40-50 cents more than 87 octane will ![]() I'd be afraid to do an even 'semi' hard pull on 87 octane in the 2.0T! Edit: forgot to take the canada/us thing into consideration... You guys do WAY better on gas prices than us suckers up here in the frozen tundra lol! Sorry, Petro Canada has the 94... Esso I'm not so sure Last edited by Corner carver; 09-23-2016 at 11:30 AM. |

Why is your premium gas so much more expensive than regular?

I'm sure there is some blog or forum post detailing it somewhere in the Internet but I'm too lazy to look it up at the moment. My assumption would be that it might reduce power density of the fuel and if left to sit for long enough might separate into an uneven mixture. Those are my guesses.
