the DI is pretty loud with hood open from outside the car, kinda ruined your warranty with the e85 tune,i cant really offer any help other than, change your oil and check for metal.and just know the di is fairly loud and gets louder with mileage, from my experience,im at 5k miles.

Do a quick video to hear the "problem".

Have you checked for something silly like the exhaust being too close to something and tapping it from resonance vibration? Especially around the headers you had installed.

Not to insult your intelligence, but how much experience do you have being around DI?

DI V8 is pretty loud.. that is just a normal characteristic of DI. With the longtubes the ticking noise is probably enhanced so it's louder.

Hmmmm just throwing this out there, if you have changed your oil to full synthetic it can make your engine louder or noisier , Mobil 1 made mine more noisier, also make sure you are using the correct filter ( AcDelco PF64 ) or that can cause the noises you describe. Plus what others have said, direct injection is noisy

I would also hope you did more mods besides a tune for E85 because if not, E85 will be eating away fuel lines, etc as the LT1 is not E85 compatible.

Last tech, I read was E85 is not recommended for LT1 DI engines, GM stated they are working on making it in the future, if e85 remains due to several states are now trying to eliminate it..

Alcohol is corrosive and can degrade plastic, rubber or even metal parts in the fuel system that weren't engineered to use alcohol-bearing fuel. Consequently, that antique Evinrude outboard or '60s lawn tractor you bought at the swap meet might need some upgrading to stay together on today's gas. That means corrosion-resistant tanks, alcohol-tolerant rubber lines, seals and fuel-pump diaphragms, and plastic fuel-system parts that won't swell up in the presence of alcohol.

I installed a full exhaust with long tube headers and no cats. After installing i noticed what sounded like ticking as well. Double checked all the exhaust connections and everything was good. I was worried at first as well and thought something was screwed up but it seems like i was over thinking things. I chalked it up to the DI and with the combination of long tubes/no-cats enhancing the sound you hear. I've had the exhaust on the car for about 1500miles now. It runs great, pulls hard and I have no problems.
