My BMW R1200ST is lighter, faster, WAAAAAY better in the curves (you know those places like the Dragon where all traffic backs up for the Hardley-Ableson riders to duck walk through the hairpins), carries as much if not more stuff, and is just as comfortable as anything from Milwaukee. Harley makes a good motorcycle for what they are used for, but don't act like they are the only choice. There are far better alternatives in just about every segment. If you want "the look", then that's fine, go for it! Harley sells a "lifestyle" to 95% of it's customers, and it's making them millions. I have a long standing hatred of Harley that is personal (ex-father in law worked at the York plant - many, many horror stories), but for what they do, make a lot of noise and clog up roads, they excel.

I have two. 1999 Fatboy and a 2001 Special Construction Softail. Unfortunately, the bikes have taken a back seat to the Camaro. Summer is NOT all that long here in Wisconsin.

If we are gonna play the game.....statistically, Harley riders are a safer bunch of riders. Think about it, they spend a LOT on their bikes and don't care to have that taken away from them. Yes, not many Harley's are rockets, so they generally ride with more care. And, you have to admit, it is more likely for the "crotch rockets" to cause more problems then the Harley riders because the majority of them are teens and twenty somethings that have a "me" complex. Harley's are loud, you get heard before seen, unlike "crotch rockets" that zip up on cagers. Now, with all that said, I do believe it is the few that give the majority a bad rap. And before you start flaming me, if you choose to do so, remember......this is just MY opinion.

Motorcyclists in general, tend to be a enthusiastic group that respect others that ride no matter what it is. Wannabe bikers, squids, stunters, etc. tend to give us the bad name. Being on a Buell, I've been insulted by both Harley riders and sport bike riders because I'm right in the middle. Get a big twin instead of that sporty trash...You need to grow up to a real bike...etc etc. Here's the thing, this bike is just right for me. I get the vtwin rumble I want and I can go attack the twisties in the mountains whenever I want. Assholes will be assholes, no matter what they ride or drive.

It's great to see so many nice bikes on here! Very happy to see that many of you enjoy riding as much as I do!
Ride safe everyone.

Been down, been hurt, by a cager on a phone. Got back on. Still love to ride, still don't trust anyone. You guys arguing about everything kill the spirit of sharing. Ride what you ride, or don't. Be courteous and respectful of others on the rode, either way.
2006 Softail Night Train. 100 hp and not much left stock. Anyone that thinks a Harley can't be fast has never ridden one modded. They routinely run 11's or better. How much are you looking for? |

Really beautiful bike! Good pictures too. My 145hp V-Max was a show-room stock 10 second bike, and I was looking to add more power...

Ok, give me some clarification on land pirates......do bikers not have the right to be on the road? Even if it is just one bike, do they not have the right to the whole lane? Just because they are a bike they should have to move over for the cager? Just because they are smaller they should only take up half their lane and give the rest to the cager? I'm not sure I understand the complaint here......
