USB Connections possibly not working?
I am thinking that my USB connections inside the center console are not connected but need to walk it through with you all.
2016 2SS and I have an iPhone 6S. OK so I know how some cables won't charge certain devices because they're not carrying enough amps to register. I have tried two different cables that would normally work in my old car and in my Subaru. But both are not making the connection (don't see the charging symbol light up nor do I see anything happening with Carplay). My next try is to use the Apple-provided cable since the other two are not OEM Apple cables. Any other thoughts on if I am doing something wrong?

Try throwing a few songs on a thumb drive and see if that works. If it does then your issue is elsewhere.

Always use an Apple certified cable (Griffin is one) otherwise you risk damaging your phone. More specifically you risk damaging your charging IC. I see it all the time when I'm fixing iPhones. There's a little bit of circuitry in the end of the lightning cable, the generic cables are cheap for a reason. An Apple certified cable should work, but if that doesn't do it I would try the Apple branded cable. I haven't tried my iPhone in my car yet otherwise I could offer better insight. Good luck!

This, best test for the ports. Then you can eliminate cabling.

I'll try the thumb drive too...just need to go buy one.
Tomorrow, I'll try the OEM Apple cord that came with the phone...however, I am fairly sure my other cables are Apple Certified.

I use a generic Amazon cable to connect to my iPhone 6 (regular) and use carplay every day. I aso find that the car charges my phone really fast.
I would try the apple USB to be sure, because some are charge only, but with the apple cable (once you accept carplay on the phone) you should see the icon on the home screen of your infotainment center change to carplay, and then once you touch that it should have all your phone options. If that does not happen with the apple cable I would take it to the dealership and show them the issue. Maybe you need a firmware update or something. Whiskey |

I went ahead and scheduled the appointment with the dealer for next week...I am thinking that there is a physical connection problem.

Did myLink actually read any of music on your iPhone (not using CarPlay)?

Right now, it only communicates to my iPhone over Bluetooth...so yes, it reads my music that way and uses my phone that way too. But without physical connection, I can't utilize CarPlay.

Gotcha. Doesn't eliminate cabling, but the ports being bad are a definite possibility. Definitely isn't Car Play.

I'm "fine" with just using the bluetooth features for now, but I definitely want CarPlay up and running by the time I go on a road trip up to Vancouver, B.C. for a conference. If nothing more than for the navigation (even though I do have onstar).

It's at the dealership today for this work...if they say "Uhm, we don't know what to do" then I refer them to it and laugh inside.
