2LT vs 2SS

Really like the new Camaro and after taking several test drives I'm sold on either an 2LT with the RS and Convenience and Lighting package or the 2SS.

I thought the V6 would be a nice upgrade from my GTI (it is), but after driving the 2SS a couple times I'm being seduced by the V8. Also, since the 2SS comes with the equivalent of the RS and Lighting options, it's not that much more money.

So there has to be other people that have had this same decision and went with the LT, and are very happy about it. Why did you end up going with the LT and would you do it again? Your input and opinions are greatly appreciated, thanks!

I test drove both the 2LT and 2SS. I chose the 2LT because this car is my DD and I love just hoping in the car to go on a 7 hour drive home all while saving some gas. I considered my driving habits/style and thought it made the most sense for me. I still got all the options I wanted and love drivin it everyday. No regrets...

My situation was exactly the same....
I had 2LT on order with all the goodies.
Just before delivery I found a 2SS....it was only slightly more costly.
Bought the 2SS!!!!

Loving every moment of it. My suggestion is get the 2SS...heavily equipped V6 is gonna depreciate like crazy. V8 makes for a better purchase in my opinion.

All the best

I've had two Chevy V-8's, the 2014 Corvette and a 2013 SS… And now I have a loaded 2 LT. Because I just don't need to run around town with a V-8. I've done that. But if I had never owned a camaro V-8, and was deciding between the two, I'd go the V8, it's a blast and you have to do it once in your life.

That being said, I have been surprised at how strong the V-6 is. It's a nice engine.

Do you need a V8? No.
Do you want a V8? Yes.

I've gone for a loaded 2LT because I prefer the look of the 2LT RS over the 2SS.

I don't like the 2SS Spoiler, front grille or the hood vents.

Plus the price difference for me would have been around 5-6k which I couldn't justify just for a V8 engine when the V6 is plenty fast enough. (Disclaimer: I didn't drive the V8 as the looks just didn't cut it for me), also if it makes a different I'm a 26 year old Brit!

I had a loaded 2LT/RS 2010. I loved the car but after a while I regretted not getting the V8. If you can afford it get the V8.

The LT is actually pretty amazing and you won't be disappointed with it except the lack of V8. V6 per say is more economical, even though V8 can get 28+ mpg just not IN CITY only. If you aren't doing any spirited driving, road course or drag, no need for you to get a v8.

This pretty much sums it up for me lol. Get the 2SS and not have any buyers remorse for the v8 which sounds like you will. If you are debating the two. I didn't even consider the v6. Not because it's a worse car but because... well.. LT1. Will add the LT4 in my garage in a couple years but I am a sucker for performance.

I am upgrading from a 2010 Camaro 2LT/RS (Pre-Order), to a 2016 Camaro 2SS/RS. Do Not get me wrong, I Love My 2010 2LT/RS, except the engine in the 2LT/RS has had 2 problems as reported by members of Camaro5, that is that the LLT has had problems with the Timing Chain going bad, and in some cars, the engine loosing oil for no reason and seizing up. The other concern I have is that I have had to replace the Transmission Control Module in my Camaro twice. The first time it was covered under warranty, and the second time by a extended warranty. So for piece of mind I am upgrading to the 6th Gen 2SS/RS.

I just moved from the GTI to the V6.

Really liking the move to a real sports coupe. Makes a huge difference that the correct wheels are being driven and it's definitely faster than the GTI. The V6 is "enough" and I'm really enjoying it!

That said I can definitely see doubting the v6 purchase. I was very confident with my decision and I don't regret it in the least. But, I am curious about the SS and I should test drive one at some point just to see what I'm missing out on. I had a couple 95' z28's and I'd probably just get myself in trouble with the SS.

After owning several V8 GM cars, I'd always get the V8. But if I didn't go to the track once in a while, the 2LT would be a fantastic ride around town. This new SS is a lot faster than needed for driving in a city. Tons of fun at the track, though.

I had a hard time deciding between the 2LT and the 2SS. I ultimately went with the 2LT for the mileage. The V6 has plenty of power and I sit in stop and go traffic every day. I want to buy the cheaper gas and get the mileage, both city and highway. I don't like the sound of the V6 though, I keep the exhaust in Stealth mode. I hope I can live with it like that.

There was a test drive on a 2LT NPP car. I thought it sounded awesome in the video. In person, is it not as good?
