Right so how is 2.77 gear ratio and 3.73 ratio the same horsepower and torque and with the same engine.

It's kind of like when I got my two 2 LS that had a 2.77 ratio and the same v6 that was a regular LS had a 3.27 ratio but that car was faster with the same engine I don't know

Not trying to be a jerk, but there's a lot more to gearing than the final ratio. There's a chart floating around of effective gearing. Definitely take a look at that.

Also one of the engineers was quoted in saying the 8 speed's gearing is like a TH350 with a 4.10.

Well 5th gear in the auto and 4th gear in the manual have almost identical mph/rpm as each other so that's why the dynos are similar between the two. 6th gear in the auto is the 1:1 but the autos are being dyno'd in 5th due to the almost identical speed/rpm to the manual in 4th, plus the fact that trying to dyno the auto in 6th would put you in danger of destructing a tire hitting 200mph and would take a long time to get there. First gear in the auto is massive co.pared to first in the manual. Comparing rear gears between the two simply doesn't work on this car
