Ford does not have nothing on the table with its Mustangs besides of the great gt350R.
The performance level of the GT350 is nothing compared to the GT350R.
The only performance numbers we have are 0-60 and quarter mile, which won't mean much on the track. The Voodoo is unmatched when it comes to NA engines tuned for track duty.

Lets keep in mind the base 350 is a silly offer from Ford(dare I say a joke) as it has none of the track cooling or mag ride or even a decent entertainment system. The 1LE will be so fast that it will certainly test the value of the GT350 as it will be WAY too close in performance for a car that is for all intents and purposes $13000 less than the 350 when comparably equipped with mag etc, but it will NOT beat a GT350 around a track unless that track has short straights and limits the 350's top end potential.

This is fact, and should be looked at in the sense that an SS with an upgrade is all Chevy needs to nip at the heels of Ford's fastest track car ever! It is still a mistake to underestimate that 350 though, as it is a track monster!!

Pricing a 16 2SS with all the performance goodies offered (Brembo upgrade, Mag, NPP) puts a Camaro at $49k....then add what, $4000-$4500 for 1LE. $54k for a 1LE that for all intents, comparable price wise to a GT350, but not close in tech and performance.

$56 for how I want my 350 built...or a 17 1LE with 70 less hp for the same price?

GM better step up the tuning/weight/performance of the LT4 if they want my bones.

I miss my 13 1LE, such an amazing car!!!

I am confused why you would compare a fully loaded 2SS to a MUCH less equipped GT350?!?! A fair compare would be a 1SS with Mag and NPP to a GT350 Tech, but even then the Tech doesn't have the track cooling the SS does. Compare the 1SS to the 350 Track Pack and they both have the cooling, but the 350 has 10 year old technology in it in comparison. There is no apples to apples, but NO point in throwing a 2SS in that conversation.

Agreed, the new SS has much less of a need for the 1LE than before. It should be most important to those who really do want to track thier car. Some will buy it for looks but not realize what else they are getting. A more expensive to own less practical car.

In the past Chevy made sure the 1LE was a stripper Camaro. Then only people who knew what they were getting would buy it. If Chevy still feels that way this time around, they could make it a 1SS M6 only car. The A8 as good as it is, is not as good on a track as the M6. Except if that track is a drag strip.

I look forward to the new 1LE but not to buy one. I can just cherry pick the low cost well engineered parts I may want. If I ever get my SS.

Disagree. I can verify the 5th gen 1LE was slower on a drag strip than a standard SS, it was. I owned both. But it was more fun to drive.

The 1LE option is a track package. What makes you think it will need or be available with further brake and suspension upgrades?

This^^^ and typically while pointing to the base, non track ready, GT350 MSRP.

I have no idea how the 1LE will stack up to the GT350TP but there is a lot of precedence of Camaros outperforming lighter, more powerful Mustangs on the track.

If you recall, the 5th gen SS was chastised for understeer, pushing, unresponsive steering, and uncommunicative steering (among other things).
The 1LE fixed ALL of that.

So it was a big deal.
I disagree on the more steering feel front. My '11 SS was a little better than my 1LE. I think EPS was to blame. But it might not have been a big difference. I am hoping the new SS is better on that front. Steering feel is a part of the fun equation. The 1LE certainly was more fun to drive overall.

LOL!!!

Same wheels, same spoiler, red calipers, I would not be shocked to see a wrapped hood. You are right, you could care a great deal less than you clearly do.

Lol the wrapped hood, that's the 1st thing that needs to be removed. Next 1LE calipers & rims are painted..not powdercoated.. So yup, prefer my SS for the most important reason for ME, it's Automatic.. I shot down the 1LE hella quick when it only came in stick. I also saved thousands. But ya ZL1 that's the beast I crave 🏽

So the fact the acceleration rates are identical to a 1SS M6 means the GT350 has an advantage in speed? Power to weight comes into play here and the GT350 is noticeably heavy, especially with the TP. There is no logical reason to believe the base GT350 is faster on the track than a 1SS. The parts list of the base cars lacks anything (beyond power train) better than a GT PP. So what is it that makes everyone think it's so much better? The GT350 TP is the one the 1LE will be out to beat. And based on the SS numbers, it won't need much to shut it down.

How did you save thousands? The 1LE is 3500. How much did you spend cloning the car you don't care about?

1LE 6th gen Camaro to debut in Chicago?

$1200 for the wheels. Had the 1LE came in automatic I would've considered it. Simply wasn't an option for "me". Currently looking to sell my 2SS for a gen6 "auto" & start all over again. 1/4 mile is something 1LE isn't going to "shine" at. I don't care for any other type of racing. It's all personal taste here friends, nothing more to analyze.

I just want to know the upgrades of "1LE" over the SS... Mainly the sway bars and wheels, if they are upgraded. Correct me if I am wrong, the 1LE had the ZL1 wheels which are great both tech specs and looks. Basically the only 2 things I would possibly just buy em as parts.

Why sway bars? Well... C7 base vs z51 (SS vs "1LE"). I'd take the z51 bars and bushings, IF indeed the "1LE" is upgraded.

Other than the swaybars and wheels... Brake upgrade on "1le"? Already upgrading to 6 piston, so that's covered. Got MRC so no need to touch em either, maybe the springs and that is a huge maybe.
