Modding without voiding warranty?

I have read that unless the mods are what caused the problems and the dealership can prove it, the warranty will not be voided. But, what are some performance mods that wouldn't be risky to where i wouldn't have to be worrying about something going wrong in the first place? No superchargers, turbos, etc.. I'm just trying to figure out what some good mods would be up until warranty voids. I'm thinking an air intake will be my first, what are some others?

Thanks, Chris

It is. I want to throw on some headers and tune it with hp tuners but with the electronics issues others have had and I have had, I'm not ready to mess with tuning at the moment

For now that's about it. Give it a few more months and I'm sure companies like Solo will come out with some CEL free high flow cats that bolt up to the stock manifolds that could still be warranty void free. After you get past bolt-ons that don't do much for warranty issues, you get into opening up the engine, rear end, modifying suspension pieces that could potentially cause extra strain on power train components, etc. and you can almost guarantee warranty work denial. Give it about 6 months to see how well the 6th gens hold up and then forget the warranty and go mod crazy!

Technically the cats are covered by a separate warranty, so other than inspection worries you can replace them and not have any issues with the powertrain warranty.

You can add the Vitesse Motorsports Throttle controller too. Since it's plug and play. Apparently the one for the '14-up C7s works just fine on the 6th gen.

Wouldn't a CAI need a tune though to benefit.

CAI, ported throttle body, ported intake manifold, suspension, exhaust (you have NPP so there's no point), and headers if you don't mind driving with a check engine light.

Most CAI systems do not need a tune after install. Roto-Fab, Cold Air Inductions, SLP, BBK and Airaid are all just bolt on and go with no required tune or modifications.

Now if you can find one of those companies that have a intake for the 2016 your in luck because I think it will be a while till they do.

Covered by a separate warranty or not, try talking a dealer into warranty work if you would happen to get a CEL.

If the work they are doing has nothing to do with the code given, they can't deny it. What if it's just a bad rear o2 and not aftermarket cats? I'd love to hear a service manager say he won't fix a coolant leak or something unless he can fix an emissions sensor not covered under the power train warranty. Now headers is another story and their o2 is part of the PCM.
