I'm okay with them for my daily driver tires, because I will be getting a second set of rims with 305 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R's for my track set. These Goodyears seem like pretty reliable and solid daily driver tires

Good write up.

Camaro models will roll exclusively on Goodyear Eagle tyres in USA. Chevrolet’s sixth generation Camaro has been redesigned from the ground up, and Goodyear engineers worked closely with its development team to engineer tyres to support its performance. The project, which included more than 13,000 hours of tyre development and testing, resulted in three fitments “tuned to the Camaro chassis,” according to Johann Finkelmeier, Goodyear’s vice president of North America original equipment sales.

In LT trim, the Camaro features standard 18-inch wheels with Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Season in size 245/50R18. Also available are optional 20-inch wheels, with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season RunOnFlat in size 245/40R20.

The Camaro SS features 20-inch aluminium wheels equipped with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 RunOnFlat in size 245/40ZR20 (front) and 275/35ZR20 (rear), which will be supplied to Chevrolet in North America ahead of the third generation tyre’s full release in 2016. The tyre was extensively tested on the 2016 Camaro SS at a number of world-renowned race tracks, including Virginia International Raceway, Road Atlanta and Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife.

I've been wondering about this myself. I noted in my 2013 1LE that there was a tire well, but it only had room for an 18" rim which wouldn't fit over the SS brakes. I always bought new tires separately, and took them to my favorite installer. I could just barely squeeze the 285/35-20 into the trunk just to transport it to the installer (and another in the back seat.) With the downsizing of the 6th GEN, it got me thinking that I probably won't be able to transport a loose tire in the trunk anymore. The announcement of runflats made me think that perhaps there isn't even a tire/compressor well below the trunk floor mat.

Has anyone looked in a 6th GEN trunk to see if there's a stowage compartment? If they don't provide an inflator anymore, one of my first purchases will be a small compressor...

Also on my 1LE, I bought an old set of RS 20" wheels and install an omni-directional tire the same diameter as the stock 285s on it. I only placed this tire in the trunk for long trips, so that I wouldn't be stranded somewhere with a catastrophic tire failure. I found that if I deflated that tire, I could stuff into the 5th GEN tire well so that my luggage fit in on top. I bet this idea is out with the 6th GEN.

I just wanted to see what y'all think. I worry about such things...

Since run flats can't be repaired I wonder if we will be able to find replacements if a tire is damaged. Could be that early owners will be forced to replace them with something else just to keep their cars on the road. At $400 per tire (if you can find one) it might be less expensive anyway.

My last two F1 Supercar G2s that I bought, I priced at my dealership's website. The price was decent, so I went down to order them. After much fumbling, the parts guy says that they can't get them... Since they still had 1LEs and ZL1s on the lot for sale, I asked them where would they get replacement tires and he just shrugged and said "go to Goodyear." We all know that Goodyear Tire stores are outrageous. I found the best price at Sam's Club, of all places, and ordered them there.

I'm sure that no one will stock these GY runflats, so they'll have to be ordered. I try to stay ahead and order a couple and keep in my garage in case of a tire failure. If I can't find the OEM tire, I might switch to a different tire myself...

I have Bridgestone's touring Touranza EL something on my DD, which is an Infiniti M37x, and I really dislike them. They were cheaper than the Michelin Primacy's that came on it, and I figured I would take a chance. The wet weather traction is sub-par at best. I will say it's at least a gradual and controllable loss, so you can feel it and correct, but it feels like not even 2/3 of the Michelin's. They are "ok" in the winter, but I attribute most of that to Infiniti's world class AWD system.

From now on, if it's performance, I'm just sticking with Michelin, for A/S I'll possibly use Conti DWS, another tire I really, really like.

I think the SS is more of a day to day driver. It doesn't need pilot super sport or goodyear supercars. I've never used a run flat tire, so i've got some bitter feelings about that. I would assume that a 1LE may be in the works that would come with your more track oriented tires.

I am curious with everyone worrying about tires leaving them stranded has this ever happened? Was it really that big of a deal? Most driving in my observation is close to home or within a hour drive. I have travelled the country in rental cars and had 2 tires with nails. Usually with tire pressure monitors can tell within 5lbs of pressure lose. I just do not see the worry any more. Worst case a tow truck is an hour away. I would buy AAA if I was that worried. In fact a lot of credit cards have AAA included.

If you ruin one, you will likely be able to find dozens on EBAY veryy quickly from new owners who took them off immediatly once they realized how loud and ill handling they are.
I doubt these will be any better than any others Ive had.

Per Goodyear these tires can't be patched (even for nail holes). Once you drive them deflated they are done. Your only option is to replace the tire if you can find one that size or you have to replace both tires on that axle with a matched set of different tires. Thus the concerns about getting a flat in a location that doesn't have a replacement. It seems likely that it will take Goodyear months to build inventory for all tire options in stores and dealerships across the country.

True but EBay won't be much help on a road trip. I don't plan to buy a spare front and rear tire. When I have a problem with one then the tires on that axle probably get replaced.

It's never been a big deal to jack up the car, replace the flat tire with the spare, and be on my way in a matter of minutes no matter when or where it happened. Chances are I'd be done and gone in less time than it would take the AAA road service guy just to show up.

I would question whether a runflat tire can be safely run any reasonable distance after sustaining a large sidewall gash from a piece of road debris. TPMS would be of zero value in such a situation.

I'd much rather rely on myself than make myself dependent on others for things that I still can do.

^^^ Exactly!

This is why in my 2013 I had a spare omnidirectional tire mounted on an old RS wheel that I could pack in my trunk (in the spare tire well) for use during trips. I'd rather rely on my skills to change a flat on the side of the road than to have to wait on a service call and a wrecker!

I am sure there are multiple reasons why they went with GYs. Keep in mind that the tires that come with the SS are MADE FOR IT. So far, from all the people who did a review are loving them as well.
