Would a dealer swap out tires when the car arrives?
I'm in Nebraska, and it's going to be cold soon, so I'm wondering if you think the dealer would swap the run-flat summer tires (tires I don't want anyways) for some all-seasons? Was hoping to make a trip down to Houston when I got the car to get some work done at my brother's shop. Did the same thing last year with my current car. Went down there when it was still warm, came back with snow on the ground and summer tires on... Don't want to do that again!

They'll absolutely do it... but you might find it cheaper elsewhere. TireRack will ship to your dealer, by the way!

Yeah that's what I figured, but it would probably be worth it if they did offset the cost of all-season tires by taking the summer ones off my hands. One of the first things on my agenda before next spring is a better set of wheels/tires.

I think what OP is really asking, is will they swap them out no charge - i say....maybe, if they think they can sell the OEM, and especially if OEM are more expensive.
If it were me, I'd just buy a new set and keep the summer for when summer comes around, but OP doesn't want them at all it seems.

all-seasons would be a nice option to have since we do have some nice days scattered throughout the winter. |

All Season = Mediocre performance year round.
Dedicated Summer and Winter tires = best performance year round. |

All-seasons will not be used over the summer. Just on good winter days when there's no snow on the ground. I had 3 dedicated sets on my last car. One was some Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 winter tires, amazing. But since the car won't see any snow it's not worth going all out for winter tires.

My company buys large volumes of stock trucks. We often exchange the factory tires for customer requested brand/style and get credit for the take off tires toward the new ones.

But they're no comparison to a true winter tire. You don't want to be caught in temps under 40* on a true summer tire either... the rubber compound becomes rock hard and they're worse than all seasons, even in the dry (*unless you're only going straight) --kC |
