SS manual 1 tenth faster than the Gen5 for 0-60 and 2 tenths for the 1/4 mile. The Gen6 gearing is tall and the run flats add rotating mass. It will be more clearly a winner over the Gen5 on a road course where the mid range response and lighter weight will factor in more.

I think these are mostly pretty accurate guesses but it depends what kind of performance numbers we are talking...
GM's advertised as well as mag's tested performance numbers are going to all be pretty close to one another. But in the hands of owners its a different story... Performance Numbers based on GM/Magazine testing for the SS (my guesses) 0-60 : 4.1 sec (1LE ~4.3) 1/4 mile : 12.4 sec @ 115 (1LE ~12.7 @ 113) Brake 60-0 : 101 ft (1LE 101 ft) Lateral G's : 1.01 g (1LE 1.03 g) The 2016 SS will beat the 1LE in acceleration, hands down, A8 trans, 200lbs less, and 30 more horses. However, 1LE I think will still hold its handling advantage with its 285 square tire setup on more track purposed tires. Now, most of those in owners hands will remain the same.. however I think we will see a peak 1/4 mile of somewhere in the 12.1-12.2 range in an owners hands on the stock tires. Remember a 2010 SS has clocked 12.54 bone stock... 200 lbs less weight, A8 trans, 30 more horses, I see 12.1 being easily possible if not faster...

That's what I was referring to, with MRC. I know the new Vette is a totally different animal than a Camaro, but they managed 1.11g's of grip from that thing with similarly sized tires, all while still being a comfortable cruiser in tour mode. Again, I know this is a Vette, my point is it seems like comfort and handling can both be had with MRC. The Chevy SS which is a nearly 4,000 pound sedan gets .94 G's of grip according to motor trend. It's gotta be better than that at least. |

Excuse me if this sounds ignorant, but I've never seen a 5th gen as run below a 12.9.
I base this off of motor trend and GM and reliable sources. Not YouTube videos. At the drag strip I've never seen one break 13.0 but I'm sure it's possible with the right conditions. I live at sea level. I believe the 6th gen could possibly run mid 12's, because of the weight loss and power increase. But I don't know about 12.1 or 12.2. Although it's hopeful that's for sure. If anyone has a reliable source of a 5th gen running under 12.9 please enlighten me, because I've never seen that bone stock. |

If the 5th gen would have just had an ls3 matched to an auto you would have seen plenty more 12 second passes. The car traps 110-111 most of the time...just that should tell you it is capable of well into the twelves with the right traction, conditions and driver. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21013 thats the bone stock fast list at camaro 5....you cant even get into the top 10 without a 12.8. Currently 6 people running 12.5-12.7. Traps as high as 113 stock. Is the Camaro the only car in history that cant best its mag times? The 15 gt is running 12.9-13.0 in mags and it has run 12.4-5 stock. No one arguing about that? I like how a lot of the across the pond guys are trying to twist our words. Obviously the car wont run a low 12 in the mags or very often. It will run mid 12's with the a8 for a decent pass id guess. And that's plenty...and around a half second quicker than the mustang runs in the mags. Pure and simple beat down. The scat pack runs 12.6 in mags and has hit 12.1-2 private owner stock. Anyone arguing that? Last edited by ULTRAZLS1; 09-02-2015 at 06:49 PM. |

I just watched the Head 2 Head with them ATS-V and the C63 AMG. The ATS-V A8 ran 0-60 in 3.7 seconds the 1/4 mile in 12.1 at 116.2. The SS may be close to that if the weight is what they say.

Yeah I just watched it as well. Pretty quick. Hopefully the camaro will be close to the weight of the ats-v.

The ATS sedan as equipped in that review weighed in at 3,788 pounds, as equipped it was 300 pounds heavier then the M3 in that test (the online article includes the M3).
0-60: 3.7 seconds 0-100: 8.8 seconds 1/4mile: 12.1 @ 116.2MPH Actually the thing about that test that really interest me is the fact that both the C63 and ATS V ran a faster lap time at Willow. They say that the base 1SS is faster then the 1LE and that put down a faster lap time at Willow then the M3/M4 so I think as far as that goes we are in for a treat. |

If as most people think, low to mid 12's and barely above 4 sec 0-60, I will take it.
This means that the HiPo models will blow the GT350 and GT350R out of the water. After their first drive of the 350 and 350R, Motor Trend predicts the following about their 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Consulting our vast cache of vehicle and performance data and applying a test-driver seat-of-the-pants algorithm, we say the 3,750-pound GT350 will run to 60 mph in 4-seconds flat and the GT350R, lighter by about hundred pounds but benefitting from wider/grippier rear tires and less rotational wheel weight, will do the same in about 3.7-3.8 seconds. The quarter-mile passes should come in at around 12 seconds at 120 mph. Read more: http://www.motortrend.ca/en/car-revi...#ixzz3kejwSVQ1 |

I don't think the Camaro will weigh more than the ATS. They make very similar power as well, except the ATS-V gets it from a twin turbo V6 and we're gonna get it from a naturally aspirated V8. Looking at the weight of the ATS-V, that's about what I'm expecting the Camaro to weight. If the times for the Camaro are the same, I'll be thrilled to get one and it would be well worth the price increase. Look how much the ATS is! If it matches it's lateral G numbers, I'll do backflips all the way to the chevy dealership!
