well shhhhhhhoot! Spent some time building Premium GT stangs. You still cannot get the performance package with an auto. So the auto GT without nav and no nannies comes in a little over 41m. With the PP package it is a littler over 42m.
So to get an auto SS Camaro with HUD you are at at 44m. Add MRC and over 45m. IF I could get HUD on a 1ss, add MRC, aftermarket leather, auto and you are still at +41.5m. And would still have to add HUD. If they allowed HUD option on the 1SS I think they would not be driving you to the 2SS. So GM has the structure and packages pulling you to the 2SS. You do get more than a GT but it all cost. Oh well, over sticker shock. |

The Camaro is a mass produced car it is a hand built Bently or RR. Why are some people wanting special treatment if they buy a Camaro? Does this special treatment make the car run better, perform better, get better gas mileage? At the end of the day the price is the price in a year dealers will work with everyone. Its new and a lot of dealers wont budge on sticker. so at the end of the day you either find a dealer who will deal with you or pay what they are asking. I paid sticker for my 2010 2SS and I was ok with that. My 2014 stingray Z-51 stickered at 66390.00 I paid 63000 for it, sometimes you have to do a littlework to find a dealer who will work with you and to me that is special treatment.

Dealerships are not owned by GM and im sure dealerships have some sort of standard they must meet, but GM cant take their dealership off them. There are a lot of good GM dealerships out there that do care and are knowledgeable about their product. Its like anything else there are good ones and bad ones. I know that doesn't answer peoples concerns about how their treated when they go to a dealership, but before I bought my stingray I stopped at a benz dealership, had work clothes on and was looking at a couple cars that I really liked, three salesmen standing there and not one came over to help me or ask me if I was interested in one of their cars. So it goes to show you its not just GM dealerships it is a lot of dealerships that don't treat a customer or possible customer very well.

That I don't know. It would have to be something very severe to do that I think, not just the customer knowing more about a certain model than the salesperson. Maybe Beckey would know the answer

My opinion is based on a lot of things I've learned over the last 20 years of keeping track of the global car industry. One of them is that GM is vastly lacking in genuine customer service and still is after bankruptcy. GM has improved the cars. They need to improve customer service. And it goes beyond closing the bad dealers and refreshing the good ones. They need to really start paying attention to their customers. Call me snobby or stuck up, but no longer is it acceptable to just have a good car. Maybe it is to you, but I'm going to guess that you'd buy a GM car if it was made with duct tape and plaster. GM needs to do the right things for people like me, who swore them off 16 years ago and is considering coming back, but is still a bit hesitant. Yes the Camaro is a great car. Yes Becky is a great person and an example of what EVERY Camaro and Corvette salesperson should be. Now GM needs to get people like her in EVERY dealer. Dedicate them to Corvette and Camaro only, and provide service to Corvette and Camaro customers separately from all the rest of the Chevys. |

Decades ago Buick decided to take away the Grimaldi Buick Franchise in Pontiac, Michigan and succeeded. I do not blame GM, Tony Grimaldi played a hard game and GM decided they did not need to participate and after many years GM won but the family remains in the car selling business, so who won and who lost? Then I look at Cauley Chevrolet in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, who lost their franchise during the bankruptcy because they were also Cauley Ferrari. They are still one of the eighteen Ferrari dealers in North America, but can no longer retail sell Camaros or Corvettes . You explain it because I can't. So GM can and has, and a I stated some of their targets likely merited the attention. This is why talk of what GM can do and does do in relation to their franchisees yanks my chain because it seems to me, an observer on the outside looking in, that these actions can be arbitrary and somewhat capricious. Another Laborsmith rant on the system and its shortcomings! Laborsmith |
