If you are referring to the rumor that was the start of production date, yes false and apparently based on a misunderstanding of what DSOP meant.

I am still looking at October 12 as the date.

Sure do wish that date was moved up about a month.

I doubt weight will be known until the first deliveries take place and the buyer can look at the door jamb. Although I think Corvette weight was known before production started it seems there was a particular circumstance behind that early release.

When Al spoke on Saturday he said "in a few weeks." So we'll see.

I took a video of Al's entire presentation, including when the Convertible failed to open mid way through lol. I'll try and get it on YouTube today or tomorrow.

I believe the weight that it shown in the door jamb is not the curb weight. It is the GVWR which is the gross vehicle weight rating. Curb weight will be shown on the Chevy website before anyone gets them in there hands.

GM has made mention of the weightloss many times. I find it extremely unlikely that GM will NOT disclose it very soon. Now wether or not it is an ACCURATE weight, will remain to be seen for awhile.

I can't imagine that it won't be "accurate" but honestly nobody knows what "accurate" means. We all like to just assume that it will be 200+ pounds off the 2015 base SS model. What it could be, is 200+ when comparing trims with options....or who knows?

Bottom line...Chevy didn't lie if they can pull up they heaviest model 2015 and show that a comparably equipped 2016 model is 200 pound less.

Here is how I like to look at it. Worst case scenario. Lets say Chevy "fibbed" the numbers a bit and are getting 200+ pound weight loss by comparing a 16' 1SS base to a 15' 2SS model. I don't feel this is the case, but lets go with it.

Current 2SS comes in at 3,935 pounds. Going by the above statement, that puts the 16' 1SS at 3734 pounds. (200+ lost).

If they don't hit that number, then we were given incorrect, misleading information, or just lied to, and while it won't cause me to cancel my order or whatever, but it would be disappointing, and Chevrolet should be flamed for it.

I was told at the Fest that weight and pricing would be out "next month and we would very surprised and pleased". He had a very big smile. Al O stated again that there would be a 300 pound weight loss in the V6 and 200 pound weight loss in the others.

Maybe 300 loss from previous 6 to 2016 4 cylinder and 200 for others?
