People say in response to those who like the camaro " look ", with the statement: " what is the camaro look?" Part of my response is the t top. I dont know if t tops originated with camaro, but i know it BECAME part of the signature look of camaro. I wouldnt mind if they produced a t top version..........

I agree, T-Tops would mean an immediate order from me. Don't want a convertible. A targa top would be a nice option but T-Tops? Awesome...

And just to keep you guys from getting to excited, it's not going to happen.
Modern safety standards are just frankly a b&^tch to meet. Roof crush standard must be met at coupe levels. A targa on the other hand is considered a convertible by the government and not an issue. Yes, it is conceivable that you could have a structural steel bolt in t-top that could withstand the roof crush loads and not crack or shatter and still hold the load, and then be removed and stowed. But the cost and weight of this panel would be questionable. Make it from unobtanium and it's light and you can't afford it. Make it out of conventional materials and it would just weigh down the car and be impossible to remove without a crane. However, for even a Targa you would get what was released for the Solstice Coupe. It had a targa, but no where for on board storage. You could take it off and leave it in your garage and they even offered a simply soft top you could put in place of the top if you so desired. The Corvette on the other hand is very carefully designed to enable on board storage. Agreed, I always thought they were cool. Not "signature" to the Camaro by any means. Heck my Grand National had T-tops. Loved them on that car too.

That's what I plan to do. As soon as they're available.

Hey, I'm not saying it can't happen. Chevrolet could make this another differentiator in the market if they could figure out how to pass roof strength with a glass panel in a key structural area of the car.
Transparent aluminum? Sorry but I couldn't help the Star Trek reference.

What about a split targa top like the Jeep Wrangler has? I owned a 2013 Jeep Wrangler 2 door and it had the 3 piece roof. You could remove the front two sections independent from the rear (main) roof, making it much easier to store inside the vehicle. Just a thought...

And Jeeps have a roll bar that still provides the structural rigidity.

actually if you remember they design the corvette`s new chassis strong enough even the z06 got the convertible... if gm do this with the camaro its 99% they will do a targa or t-top with out any important structural sacrifice, I hate convertible they are heavy, slow and unsafe so that's not an option for me... not even close... but I also know gm is all about the sales, and t tops aren't to popular nowadays...

So slow and heavy. The first part of your post negated the second. As for unsafe, what do you expect when you remove a major structural component of the car? And in any case, convertibles are waaaay safer than they used to be.

Has nothing to do with targ or t-tops. Again a targa has the same roof strength requirements as a convertible. T-tops have to meet the same requirements as a coupe. And for a targa you need a place to store it in the car, securely like the Corvette latched system or you end up with a Solstice hard top solution which is leave your top at home.
