Got bored today after I decided to go for the lightweight crash bars to see what else I could shed weight from.

Looked into front windshield and door glass replacements, carbon doors, some lightweight buckets, and then that Carbon roof idea. And then if I go that route I'll need a cage too.

Also did the weights on my new DD wheel set up, only gains 6lbs while going 2 inches wider front/rear and a lot wider tires, so I call that a win.

Yep the Optic Armor ones, was thinking of adding carbon doors down the road anyways but didn't know if they would be able to hold the normal glass. Then came across the failed group buy for the lightweight glass

Ehh the Carbon roof would be a waste, whatever you saved there would be lost with the roll cage. Also I don't trust the carbon doors in a side impact but that is me.

Do carbon pieces even offer enough weight savings to justify the price? Also, when you say cage do you mean a full on roll cage?

carbon fiber is stronger than anything you have on your car. it's 10 times stronger than steel. you would be safer with carbon fiber doors.

Idk it might not be since they were saying 65lbs of weight, and caging it with door bars is the only way to go with carbon doors. And none of the bolt in cages have what I'm looking for in regards to door bars.

Stock doors - 53lbs and Seibon Doors 12lbs each x2 = 41lbs a side for 82lbs total loss

Carbon Roof 65lbs no idea how much the stock roof weighs

OEM Seats 98.6lbs compared to Momo Seats 14.5lbs each 29lbs total for 69.6lbs total loss

OEM Windshield/Door Glass/Quarter Glass Optic Armor Glass for 50lbs total loss

that's almost 270lbs right there

and most chromoly cages are in the 75-90lbs range depending on design

add the cage to that and around 190lbs shaved off. then a 18" wheel set up can drop another 50lbs.

But I got bored and was doing math lol

Yeah, in the 10 point range (door bars, through the dash, etc)

If I go this route I might just get the rpm cage with the one angled doorbar just for that added protection.

And if I change the seats I'm going to run harnesses and not the normal belts.

That's the real question, if the tuning from HPT doesn't blow up the fi market for the LLT I'm going to do an engine transplant
