I'm starting to like the interior more on the Canyon every time I look at it. This is going to come down to a couple test drives for sure.

I have a feeling these things are going to sell well pending correct market pricing.

Why wait, here are some pictures I took today at the 2014 Houston Auto Show, enjoy .....
Thanks! The more I look at it the more I hope my beater/winter car will last until at least the V6s come out. I kinda want the diesel pending pricing. Now all I need is more details and the wait is killing me.

Yeah I tried to get details from the Chevy race team rep that was there about the Diesel engine and they wouldn't give up the info. The dodge rep did give me some info on the Ram 1500 diesel , he said they are getting 30MPG On the highway. So I figured if the full size Ram truck is getting 30MPG then the Canyon/Colorado should get the same or better MPG.

Is there no official mpg for the ram diesel yet?

For some reason I expect the V6 to get 28-30mpg in the Colorado since it is comparable weight to the Camaro and GM said the chose the 3.6L over the new 4.3L due to better MPG's and the 4.3L gets 24 hwy in the silverado...and the 3.6L is a more expensive engine to boot so MPG's seems to win over cost effectiveness

It's tuned for truck duty. Mid-20s is a safer highway estimate for the LFX.

You guys know this is a GM/Fiat engine right?

VM is now a 50/50 JV with GM and Fiat. Fiat bought the 50% owned by Penske a few years ago.

Camaro weighs around 3,750 lbs in V6 automatic trim. Not sure what the Colorado will weight, but the one I'd want (crew cab version) Im sure will weight significantly more.

I'd guess a two wheel drive version could possibly see somewhere between 25 - 27mpg highway rating. I'm guessing the 4x4 will rate around 23 - 25 highway.

Weight doesn't have too much of an impact on highway fuel economy. Aerodynamics are much more important. And even if the Colorado manages to get a similar co-efficient of drag as the Camaro, it still has to punch a much larger hole in the air & therefore will have a lot more drag.

I think Fiat just bought out the remaining share in VM Motori.

Well my guess was based on the fact that if a silverado can get 24 hwy MPG, what would the point be in getting a smaller truck that can do less and only cost maybe 5k less if it was only going to gain 1-2 MPG's? They chose the 3.6L as they said due to MPG's so the hope would be for marketing that those that still need a truck but don't need that big of a truck and save a little money on MSRP, there would be more of a point into getting a smaller truck or the midsize Colorado/Canyon will see an early demise just like it's predecessor's

Remember that you also have a 2.5L and a 2.8L Diesel. Those are most likely going to be your fuel economy engines.

Exactly.

Even midsize - fullsize sedans with the LFX struggle to get much past 30mpg highway. Camaro is rated at 28 - 29. I don't see the Colorado getting 30 with the LFX.

Yes it should get better mileage than the Silverado, but I don't think we can expect huge differences when your comparing the two V6 offerings. By the way, is that 24mpg with the V6 crew cab or extended or regular cab?

Anyway, for the V6 I'd expect a decent 2 - 3 mpg better comparing 2wd or 4wd trims. Silverado V6 4x4 looks to be rated at 22 highway. If the Colorado 4x4 can get 25 I think that's good.

In my opinion you have to look further than that. The Colorado should cost considerably less up front, plus the gas savings over time, not to mention the "better fit" for you lifestyle which is why people should consider the Colorado over the Silverado in the first place. For me, the Colorado is the right size truck. If you feel a fullsize is more of what you need, then that's what you should be looking at.
