In general I don't feel consumer reports' sense of value lines up with mine - for instance, a miata may be fun to drive but it would not fulfill my desire for loud, fast and mean American muscle. Given that my only choices to fit that bill are mustang, camaro, corvette - I would say the camaro is best in class. Besides, value is really a personal prospect - many of the people I work with don't see how It is worth the gas to have a v8 while I don't see how it is worth the savings on gas to have a Prius

This is the same publication that slammed almost everything I own. We recently bought a washer and dryer and bought speed queens. Built like a tank but use tons of water, while they are clearly not very green friendly they wash clothes better than any machine I have ever owned. Gears a metal and all commercial type guts. They look like something out of the 1970s so if you are looking to impress your friends with them by having the latest and greatest that use so little water yours clothes do not have a fighting chance of getting clean by all means listen to consumer reports.
Moral to the story, I gave up on what was once a very good publications years ago and is now a shadow of what it once was. |

However, you are correct, everything that they do rate that I know something about, I disagree with almost completely. BTW, I got the "old-fashioned" washer and dryer too, both commercial grade from Lowe's on sale for $900 as a set. Plus a $100 gift card and free delivery and setup. Then to top it off, used my Chase card which was offering 10% rebate on purchases at Lowe's. God bless the folks wanting the front loaders that beat your clothes over rocks in their washer and then any water left over turns to mold if you close the door afterwards. Thanks for making our washers and dryers so much less $$$$. Best. |

This is strange. Just a month ago, I read a report that Camaros were one of the better cars for holding value.
With respect to cars, I gave up on Consumers years and years ago. They blackballed almost every GM car I have owned since the early 80's, and each of those cars gave outstanding service. |

CR trashed the Chevy Volt in a sidebar story before they did a full test of the vehicle. Their biggest gripe was price.
A couple of phone calls must have come in to Yonkers, New York from Government Motors. CU abruptly changed their opinion about the car in follow-up article in April 2011 and then tested the 2012 model. Price was still "a major concern." Not one mention of garage fires. CR appears to be biased toward Toyota, Honda, and Subaru. |

CR is known to present uninformed and biased "reports" which are worth the paper they're written on... They're the last place I would ever look for meaningful information on anything....

Not really a CR follower anymore (because they rarely right) but this isn't a big mystery. There are web pages and Facebook pages (on top of a multitude of threads in forums like this one) dedicated to hating this convertible. GM earned that and continues to half a$$ own up to the issues it has.
I personally have never seen anger of this magnitude aimed at one car. Not like consumer reports does anything more than a cursory look at product nowadays, so it's an easy target for CR with people screaming from the roof tops.
