I've had a 'forum friend' get denied warranty service after they printed out a thread of the work done on his car and his racing exploits. His plate was the identifying factor from the 'car build' thread they used against him.

Not that paranoid about it personally, but some are.

Most of the addons link right to Google Maps and can drop a pinpoint right on the location that photo was taken. Its not that hard to do and costs absolutely nothing to get the info.
I did not think it that far. I was aware that it would only give u the location (like the place). Would it really pin point to the location that u have taken the pic ???

That's a little different, and the plate isn't needed to make a correlation. I denied a Mazda RX8 owner a transmission warranty for his second blown unit, based on the timeslips I found over on the Mazda forums. Sometimes my dealership experiences were fun.

Here is an example. Feel free to Google Street view the GPS data. The addon to chrome, does it for you. All you need to do is right click on the photo.

You realize that your license plate is on the back (and front in some states) of your car every time you drive it? Do you cover up your license plate then too?

Short of being a police officer or government official I don't know any ways of deriving personal information from a license plate anyways.

In pictures? Cover it up or blur/pixelate it.

I open the imagine on my iPhone or iPad in an app that you can draw on imagines. I just erase the plate number and save it
