You're lucky they didn't tow the car right then, different cop may have.

Skip asking the internet attorneys and officers. Find an attorney in the area you were tagged in that has traffic court experience and talk to them. They will give you realistic expectations based on all of the factors specific to your situation. IMO it is worth the money to reduce points and avoid potential insurance rate hikes.

Sounds like you need to set the speed warning alarm for about 75 MPH for a long while.

Long story short he pulled me over for exceeding 100mph limit (101) and gave me a ticket with a mandatory appearance in court.
Is there a chance that Judge will allow me to take traffic school to get rid of the points on the license? (even though that going over 100mph adds up 2 points without a possibility to correct violation?)
How should I approach judge in this situation? What should I say? This is the first time I was ever pulled over in the US and I feel very stressed.
Help please.
Man! Talking about hijacking the dude's thread! The first thing you need to do is find out exactly what the punishment is for 101 in a 70. That's an automatic suspension here. Then I would contact an attorney that specializes in traffic violations, in the jurisdiction where you got the ticket. I got one in Las Vegas a few years ago for 80 in a 45 and I contacted a local Las Vegas traffic attorney. He got it reduced to a non-moving violation. I still had to pay a small fine and by the time I paid the attorney, it ended up costing more than just paying the original fine. But it didn't go on my driving record and my insurance didn't get jacked up, so it was still a good deal.

At the very least you'll need a tourniquet for your wallet to stop the bleeding. These days it's as much about revenue as it is public safety, maybe more.

we have a winner.
Don't go before the judge splitting hairs about 101 being almost 99. You were not paying attention to your speed. Own it, take your punishment - you screwed up. It's going to cost you no matter how you look at it. Lesson learned. Set that speed warning and/or use your cruise control!

Either get an attorney or go in the a "I made a mistake in judgement" attitude and hope for the best. You try to make it out to be NOTHING or less than what it is and they will a**f**k you.

I've been in your shoes, got tagged for going 110mph quite a few years back in my 98 Camaro....the Judge was not pleasant to deal with and bitched me out in front of everyone else for the speed...you can ask for traffic school but don't expect they will give it to you....pray the cop doesn't show up, that's your best chance....and prepare to pay, my friend paid close to $800 for the ticket he got going 105 last year....oh, and the worst has yet to come, your insurance rate is gonna jump if you get 2 points....Good luck....
