:( Man this shit sucks, it's not looking good for both automakers, and Ford is probably laughing their asses of

Doesn't mean I'm wrong. Sure more of their vehicles are just fine than the ones that have problems. Probably a large majority of them do. But I'm saying Chrysler has a larger percentage of problems. Try a google search on tranny problems. You'll find every vehicle out there but Dodge will lead the way easily.

I have a Jeep liberty that just rolled 100k miles and I have had to do absolutely nothing other than service it. Been a great vehicle. But my moms Durango, my dads Dodge pickup, my freinds wifes Durango and my old bosses Dodge pickup have all had the trannys replaced. My moms was done twice and my dads went out again so he traded it before fixing.

You got a good one.

Well I guess you don't know me. Our Ram has been trouble free, as was our Dakota before that. The tranny has been flawless including towing. My Dad runs an 11,000lb load over 8000 miles a year with an '01 3500 with no Tranny work.

I can make anecdotal statements like that about the duramax/allison combo because those had some really rough years. In fact, I can one up you- because my Dad and I both trailer quite a bit to parks in the NW we meet the people who actually tow loads with their trucks. There was a lot of frustration. We both own Dodges. You'll find that if you ask the diesel mechanics, most will say the Dodge is the most reliable product out there in the HD class.

However, I think GM has resolved most of those issues and I certainly don't think GM should fail because of it. GM makes great products and it pisses me off that some of you cry bloody murder when the Gov't leans on GM but send kisses and rainbows when they write Chrysler off.

Frankly, I don't think anyone in government is qualified to determine what qualifies as a going concern. The random and arbitrary feeling I get from the decision making process feels more appropriate for choosing prom-dresses then the survival of 50,000 employee companies.

I think some of you guys are too quick to let fanboy-ism cloud your viewpoints. If Chrysler goes, so will thousands of jobs. In addition to that, parts manufacturers will be taking a serious hit, especially the ones that provide a larger quantity for Chrysler over other companies.

I don't want Chrysler to fail by any means, however it has pissed me off that they've gotten billions in tax dollars when they're privately-owned and their parent company could easily spot them a few billion.

I think that's what a LOT of people are struggling with, specifically the auto panel of the administrations.:(

My first instinct is to agree with this but I don't see that the stockholders of GM or any other company as any more deserving of a bailout than those guys at Cerberus that got suckered into buying Chrysler.

Cerberus had no intention of running Chrysler as a going concern. It was a strip and flip from the get-go. Why do you think they don't put up the money now? They know Chrysler doesn't have a chance in hell to contiunue on it's own and they aren't going to put good money after bad. Why do you think they put a hachet man like Nardelli in charge?

I think Cerberus's original goal was to purchase Chrysler, take it into bankruptcy (financed with financial help from the government to keep the company going in bankruptcy), reorganize it by forcing union concessions on health care, pensions etc., then sell it off in portions. Of course, they didn't anticipate that the economy would sh*t the bed.

This is what happens when you take money from the us government. I love GM, and only buy GM, but if you cant shape up you operations (fire the UAW), then so long. Taking government bailouts (US tax dollars, mine and yours, or just print it) is just a bad thing. We should go back to true capitalism, something we have not practiced sense the early 1900's.
