These are normal feelings that you are having from getting older and maturing. I would not abandon your old self completely, but definately try out some new things. Update your clothes, try wearing a coat and tie at least one time in the week, like to church or work. Go to some different places and meet some people that you would not normally associate with. Get a new hair style... You get the point. Some of these things you will want to maintain. This is something that you will need to do periodically. Nothing is abnormal; you are just a smart guy that is trying to emerge into the man you are supposed to be.

Everyone has to "grow up" at some point. Sometimes that means changing how you act and how you dress. You don't change so much as adjust. I'd say try some small changes and see how you feel. Perhaps try something you normally wouldn't. Like eat suschi or learn something new to expand your horizons. You may make some new friends or find a new passion.
Good Luck.

First, I will say this.... Its NORMAL to feel this way. Sucks, but is normal.
2nd, realize that there is ALOT to learn. Growing "up" is endless and forever. 3rd, Experience as many things as you can, regardless of what is "cool". Art, music, reading books for fun and learning. 4th, Enjoy the time and dont worry about what other people are doing. The one constant (that I have found and KNOW) is that everything in life is cyclical. Things come and go. So do good times and bad times. No reason to fight it, its going to happen. Jason |

No, not at all. The serious part will just happen naturally. Heck I still like to do stupid crap and act like a kid. That doesnt go away, it just happens less often.
What is your definition of "manlier"? What does that mean to you? |

Sound like you feel you need to grow up. Not sure why. Do you want to "hump and dump"? At best, it is a phase and it works both ways too. It's weird because sometimes it comes when you aren't looking for it and not when you necessarily expect it. It kind of "happens" and you know then that you are ready.

I guess when I think of manly I think of guys like Vin Diesel lol.Jocky, Cool, serious, pretty much get what he wants with the ladies, car fanatic (I'm getting there :P) and idk.. just overall manly. Now please, do not get the impression Im some sexually frustrated nerd, no. Ive had my fair share of experiences with the ladies, just not to the caliber that I've seen around campus.

I had one of those situations while I was growing up also. I understand where you are coming from. Let me give you a small peice of advice that really helped me out in my time of need. I stopped caring what everyone else thaught. I decided I was going to dress how I wanted to dress, drive what I wanted to drive and like i wanted to like. When you start doing that, then the ladies, friends and job will all come together in time. It isn't about being yourslef it's about liking yourself. If you can look yourself in the mirror and say "I LIKE WHO I AM, AND IF NO ONE ELSE DOES THEN THATS THEIR PROBLEM".

Join the military then they will make you find yourself real quick lol. No but seriously be yourself but respect others in the process anyone that is worth keeping around you will be there no matter what. My father is always trying to tell me how to dress when I go back home, I dress normal I hate dressing up fancy unless I have to. I wear a uniform proudly everyday but once im off duty I want to relax and feel comfortable. Maybe you should go see this guy sometime:

Don't worry man i went thru the same exact thing at the age of 22. Just one day it hit me that i wasn't where i wanted to be and it lead to a depression. I used to be the same way- funny, just a down to earth straight forward guy with what it seems no worry in the world. I think you are getting out of the superman effect as some people call it and that is that now life is hitting you. Everything was so easy it was a routine. go to high school then when i graduated college and so on, but once that is over it kicked me hard. I am 25 years old now and i have finally found myself. Don't worry about the clothes or what is cool or isn't, that is the least of your worries. Try to first fix yourself spend some alone time and find what interests you have. One thing i found out about myself is i would find myself having a facination with physics and space, and everything else just came into place. I also found don't DO NOT TRY TO FIND THE ANSWER RIGHT AWAY! it just won't happen. I found myself when i stopped looking and i started just going on with life and doing what made me happy and i lost some friends but made better ones. Now i have grown to have people admire me which is great because they know i am not trying to please anyone but myself. Hope this helps i know its a bit long but it is what happen in my life and hope it helps you. Good luck
