If it was about saving the environment, the tree huggers would all eat more meat. According to their own studies, the beloved bovine is one of the main sources of methane on the earth. In a word, cow farts are destroying the ozone.

If tree huggers truly wanted to save the environment, they would stop eating oxygen producing plants and have a steak.
so the tree huggers want gas at 5.00 a gallon when times are bad.... i can see if times were good, but when times are bad, its just not a good idea.. why dont they see that

Americans ONLY remember Veterans and Veteran's Day when it's convenient or chic to do so.

The media takes images and videos of these events off the TV saying, "It will just breed anger, it's too disturbing, or may offend certain people."

Instead of crying out, the American public goes along with it, without question, all in the name of "tolerance".

George Santayana... "Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it."
Get over yourself. This thread is about absurd gas prices, not whether or not "enough" people pay visible tribute to the fallen and VFW's... or whether or not actual wartime footage gets "enough" play on television.

If you want to live every day in tribute, then you have the freedom to do so.

I also invite you to bleed for me, several thousand miles away from your home, any day you wish. But that doesn't mean that I owe you a thing in return - especially if you're going to be walking around with a chip on your shoulder because of it.

Now back on topic... getting ripped off by pigs wearing ties who smell like boiling petroleum products instead of sweet sweet bacon.

Well, Senator Harkin's wife sits on the Board of Directors for Phillips/Conoco Oil and I sure as hell didn't see him sending back his wife's profit sharing check. So he is literally in bed with "Big Oil". People in glass houses I guess.

What about jewlers? Their mark up is near 600%. Let's hit them with a "gross profits tax".

The free market is about supply and demand. If you don't like a product or service, DO NOT buy it.

When those who would like to see us in a "greener" world state gas will go up to $5.00+ a gallon, the futures buyers buy, buy, buy driving the price up.

I guess it would take a mind full of common sense to get upset over everything you seem to be ok with.

The demand for gasoline is constant. And if a company chooses to artificially induce a shortage to raise the price, what can we do about it? We aren't talking about "Limited Edition IPHONE's", we're talking about a product that we rely upon for day to day life. A product that has an affect on the price of everything we purchase.

Who buys jewelry? Even if you do, EVERY merchant will negotiate a price with you.

And your beef eating analogy makes no sense at all... unless you're suggesting that the hippies eat all of the cows, and that we stop raising them all together. Because cows feed solely upon "oxygen producing plants"... and they release their by-product into the atmosphere.

It'll be good to see prices up around $4 a gallon again...to see innovation and progress take place in the way of replacing gasoline and/or oil with other fuels and fuel sources.

That was humming along nicely two summers ago...and it all but died when gas dropped...

As far as the impact on me? I still want a Camaro...so I'll just need to budget for the gasoline to feed it. I don't plan on complaining though...I believe in the innovation it will create.

Yes it will go down. Up down Up down and so on. This will continue to happen for atleast the next 10 years I would be willing to bet and every 3 years or so a dollar more will be come norm. Stayed At 2.50 for a while in about 3 years 3.50 will be the norm and so on and so on I think.

Those hybrids out there are a scam, and you need like 10 years or serious inflated gas prices to recoup the extra costs. Either a real electric or stick with what you got.
