Got mine scheduled in about 3 weeks

2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats... We're, good.

No worries no doubt. I can reverse it if there is a tragedy of some kind and my wife doesn't have to sweat it. Plus both our kids were born through C-section... so I guess it's my turn anyway.

I find it funny that some guys think it makes them less of a man...why?

Is a woman less of a woman if she can't reproduce - be it natural or some form of medical intervention? Are you not a man if you have useless sperm and just don't know it? So illogical....

I don't think I'd call me less of a woman if I was on birth control or had anything done to prevent me from getting pregnant (or just couldn't naturally) -- in fact I'd PREFER not have to worry

I have one little red-headed beast in the garage that gets into enough trouble and costs me enough money, thanks. I'll keep her as an only "child".

I'm too old for kids anyway

Man I didn't want to get into this because I'm not sure how to explain it in a G rated mannor ,but here it goes. I don't think it makes you less of a man at all ,but from what my wife tells me, and this was part of the reason she took care of it on her end, She didn't want the extra help to be gone during fun time.

I know I stink at G rated. I'm just not sure what I can say and what I can't

Just curious...when you say shoot blanks does that mean shoot nothing at all? Sorry to be so crass. Just wondering.

I'm not sure what you mean??
Like I said, had mine 25 years ago. Are you refering to performance issues?
There is absolutely no performance effects from having a vasectomy.....with ANYTHING....other than you have no swimmers, which you wouldn't know anyways. Everything works exactly as it did pre-op...........

Blessed: To answer your question; Everything "shoots" exactly the same as it did before. You will notice no difference in ANYTHING.

Sorry if I'm being too graphic....

Ok see - that was my take on it -- so I don't get the whole drama about "not being a man"
I know chicks that think like that about it too, though.....I just don't get the logic, that's all...

That's not too graphic at all. You know I never looked into that much, and I only went off of what she was thinking. From what your saying she's not thinking correctly. I believe she never really understood what really happens afterwards. I'm just glad we didn't base our whole decision off of that alone. She had medical issues that cause her to have it done.

Thank you for the education.

Not sure how else to say it so it doesn't offend someone, but I'll try.............

The sperm are the swimmers, they are microscopic....you don't see them or know they're there. After the vasectomy, you have no sperm to impregnate. The ejaculation is the same as it was before, just no sperm with it. I'm kinda feeling like Dr. Ruth now, hope I'm not offending anyone. People need to know that with a vasectomy nothing changes at all, after you heal. The discomfort goes away after a day or two and back to regular activities within a week or two.

And be sure to get tested after the procedure, by bringing a sample to the urologist. They will make sure there are no sperm......this is how accidental pregnancies happen after the procedure.....by not getting tested.

Well....it was over 20 some years ago, but here is my story:

After 2 daughters I figured I was destined to live in the "international house of women" and decided it was time for the snip.

Showed up and the wife was not allowed in the room as the proceedure with me (they said a wife freaked out once and aacked the staff). While I am waiting the male nurse sashays in and with a lipse says "this won't take long, I'm going to shave the area to prep. You will only feel some slight tugs during the procedure, and then you will walk like a Texan for a few days. Oh, and we DO leave some of the penus intact!" "Just a joke, don't worry". So now I'm freaked.....not only do I not want a...um.."Gay" guy messing with my stuff, but I'm thinking maybe should not do this. But the doc comes in and it goes pretty quick....except the "slight tugs" felt more like a kick in the groin. We leave and stop at Perkins for dinner on the way home, and the waiterss ask's "will that be a dinner roll or Texas toast with your meal?" So my wife & I look at each other and break out laughing.

Within a few days all was fine and don't regret it. Pretty easy.

Now, the cary part. Afer 3-4 years I star getting pain and swelling. After about a week it is BAD and my testicles are swelling up to the size of baseballs! Turned out my body had some how sensed that they were "foriegn" as they were no longer needed for their intended purpose and was attacking them. A few weeks of steroids & some other meds they were back to normal & never have had an issue since. Doc said it was very rare reaction.

So my advice? IF your sure you want no more kids, do it.

After the procedure you still ejaculate as normal, the orgasm is normal, the only difference is the actual sperm never make it to the ejaculation party, therefore no unwanted pregnancies...they are trapped forever in the testes, only to be absorbed by your body.

Also After the procedure your doctor should tell you to "clear the pipes" of any leftover sperm that may have been on the upstream side of the surgery. You should be asked to bring in two samples at two and four weeks to be sure the vasectomy was successful in stopping the sperm from being mixed into the batter so to speak. The doc should tell you to manually clear the lines at least twice before the first sample being brought in, you and your spouse should remain on whatever birth control you are on until after the second sample is cleared as "sperm free".

I cleared the lines multiple times before the first sample just to make sure.

*EDIT; sorry just saw that '67 Convertible said basically the same thing!
