I gave them a fair shot many times over the last 10 years. It is now our procedure to test every wire we install or remove, even when changing plugs. We are finding more bad wires then we should. Had a car on the dyno yesterday with brand new Accel Ceramic boot wires showing misfire on full throttle pulls. It is disheartening that Quality is going out of everything. An Ohm meter can show a bad connection, the power in the coils can still jump that gap in the wire and the car won't skip, until the spark load gets high then misfire occurs. It is a bigger problem than ever before. I also see this in many of my remote tuning sessions and have to advise wires and plugs get tested, checked, or replaced Thanks for all the discussion almost feels like years past. Ted.

Would it be worth the effort to wrap the headers?

How much of a difference does this make with aftermarket headers+high flow cats vs straight connection pipes?

But for installations in which one remains with the stock headers (like me...at least for the time being..LoL), the OE wires should still be a good solution I guess. For over a year my experience at ~ 7 PSI (93 gas) on the LT4 blower and relatively fresh LTR6 plugs @ 0.035" = ZERO misfires or other issues. |

Ted, any chance you can post a direct link for purchase? Ideally, would be great to purchase DEI boots from you as well.
Also, a question: does your custom LT1/LT4 TVS2650 wires would work with 1mm spacer plates between heads and blower? |

You "Old School" guys might remember back-in-tha-day when Dr Jacobs (infamous for developing the heart pacemaker) had a car hobby and was tired of his MSD boxes failing... so he created his own. Then he added a controllable Boost Retard and everyone I knew with a Turbo or Vortech bought his products as they never failed... kinda like the heartbeat of your engine depended upon it! Dr Jacobs also created a truly badass Porcelain Ceramic plug wire which was revolutionary when trying to stick a wire through a "basket of snakes" turbo manifold on a 331ci Ford with twin turbos or anything Corkey Bell fabricated.
Then the Doc got bored and sold off the company to an investment firm not known at the time to own MSD. They shut down the competition... and the story ended for a few decades. Or so I thought, until I contacted him. When I needed new plug wires, I bought a set from Katech... and they were and have been stellar with the proper Ohm resistance, reach and the boots were "okay" with sleeves upon them. I added Marine heat shrink and titanium/kevlar wraps and called it good. Over the past year, they worked perfectly... no issues, but then the door opened up for me to buy the components to make my own, with the exact specs needed for proper coil dwell and zero misfires recorded in the past six months over thousands of miles and not one fouled plug or failure. I now wrap my own with a double layer of titanium/kevlar wrap, sealed with an epoxy-lined heat shrink that seals the boot, cable and wrap tight enough that it can be yanked on with soft-grip pliers fresh off the track. Both cable ends lock onto the coilpack and plug with a distinctive "click" so you know its set! We used to build crazy stuff in the 1990s... and by today's standards it is crazy that we made it work. The truck below is my 1995 Bronco with a 1995 Ford Lightning drivetrain, 427ci Kuntz & Kraft Windsor with a T72 turbo and it ran a best time of 10.17@122mph in 1996-ish at Bradenton's Fun Ford Weekend! |

https://jannettyracing.com/products/...ark-plug-wires Ted, I think the one thing that I don’t love about the Grantellis is the coil connection (should be the easiest part right lol?). I just don’t get that nice satisfying CLICK when I push them onto the coil. I’m assuming you’re happy with your wire connections and they’ve proven to be secure?
