RPO code “TD2 . ship thru- ground effects”

Asked this in another forum, don’t think it gets as much visibility as this one though. Might anyone know what this means? It’s from my build sheet, but my car has no factory ground effects. Just curious

Did you order ground effects?

RPO code TD2 in General Motors vehicles refers to a "Ship Thru" process where a vehicle is taken from the production assembly line to a third-party upfitter to have ground effects (exterior body kits) installed before being shipped to the final dealership.

If you did pick that rpo ground effects option, you better get with your dealership, if not maybe an accidental print on paperwork.

Interesting. Not the original owner, so I don’t know what was originally ordered, if anything. I asked for and received the original build sheet, the Title line of this thread is on the build sheet, verbatim. My car doesn’t have factory ground effects, or at the moment, aftermarket either; have them in a box in my garage, will put them on when it warms up a bit (beside the point).

I do have a rear diffuser, don’t think it’s anything other than stock on a 2SS. Could be Corky’s last point, the original dealer just needed the GE package for another car. Makes sense.

Every car with TD2 I see have some type of vinyl striping.

Not actually sure any ground effects were actually "Factory" installed, was under the impression those were pretty much Dealer RPO items...
