Oil pump lawsuit?

With all the failures why isn’t there a lawsuit?

GM been pretty good about taking care of customers, at least that was my experience. Sure failure sucked, but was resolved to my satisfaction. I'm on tail end of 8yr extended warranty they provided.

What about when it happens to every zl1 out of warranty? Do they take care of all those cars?

Maybe. Plenty of LT4 donors out there too. Mine now.... 8 years old! We had engine failure in another car covered under warranty at 7 years, so its not unheard of for well documented failures.

In other news, buying 8 year old performance car.. sometimes comes with surprises. And then there crazy resale value, cars like mine for over new MSRP! I should cash out Comes with balance of 8yr warranty on engine, transmission and suspension.

LOL no. It's GM we're talking about here. Before factory warranty expires, it's a GM problem. One day and one mile after, it's the owner's problem.

Practically speaking, if you're the original owner and you're 428 miles or a week out of warranty and working with the dealer you purchased it from brand new, the dealer might go to bat with the regional GM rep, and that regional GM rep might get permission from above to accommodate you as a warranty repair. If you're not the original owner and/or you're 10k or 7 months out of warranty, you can go get fcucked.

By contrast, here's a story: My purchased-new 1991 4Runner's head gasket failed in 2001 at 105kmi, and I traded it in right after I got the first whiff of coolant in the exhaust. Exactly 6 days later I got a service campaign letter from Toyota saying they would replace the head gasket gratis, with free loaner and pickup at my house, and an apology for the inconvenience. That truck was 45k miles and 3 years out of powertrain warranty. GM has never done this and will never do this. Don't ever pretend or wish otherwise. And yes, I still miss that truck.

I don't even think Toyota is doing this today with their issues lately.

Toyota is absolutely not doing this today. They are actually doing everything within their means and power to deny the consumer and make sure that they try and blame them for the failure.

Toyota is a far cry from what they used to be these days and what they produce now is absolute junk. The cab on my 2012 Tacoma is basically disintegrating at this point especially towards the radiator support bulkhead area.

Not so - i had 2 years left on the warranty and took it in.
A GM "Service Engineer" came out to look at it, changed the oil in it and said I put the oil filter on wrong, and pushed me out the door.
3k miles later it failed. Disassembly showed all the pump vanes were broken or just completely missing and the pump was broken in half internally.

So chevrolet made what, 8-12k cars with bad pumps that absolutely will go bad.
We as customers paid 60-80k for these vehicles and when it is completely obvious anyone that can fog a mirror that it was a hack job coverup, the GM die hards come out to defend them.

Well you best hope your cars pump doesn't fail.
It cost over 20k to repair.

Because the failure rate was only high in 2017 and 2018 models and GM covered them under warranty when they failed which was 5 years ago now.

Nope, nor does any other manufacturer cover parts failures outside of the warranty period. GM is no different here than any other manufacturer, you either buy an extended warranty, or you pay for your own repairs outside of warranty.

Agree completely, Grew up with my parents then me owning Toyotas in the 80s and 90s. Those vehicles were legendary for there reliability. I have a 2010 Tundra I bought new. Even that vehicle is a far cry from Toyota of old. But at least its been very reliable. You couldn't give me the junk they are making now. $75K for the new Tundra, which is an unreliable POS with a turbo V6 that may blow up in the first 1K miles. I honestly don't know if I'll ever buy another new vehicle. They are all overpriced, unreliable junk.

They have all become over manufactured, overtechnologized junk now, I HIGHLY agree. They have the life on expectancy of a washer/ dryer household appliance. It's done on purpose to keep you coming back and keep them producing.

Sad times we live in to the regard unfortunately.
