3D printed fob case

Anyone ever printed a smaller fob case, or know where to buy one? Searched around a bit but have come up empty. Bought one when I had my BRZ since I never needed to take it out of my pocket anyway. Like my Subaru, these fobs seem a lot bigger than they really need to be. Found 1 YT video of someone printing a smaller case for their Bolt that looked the same, but his end product was rather crude and wrapped in electrical tape. Been looking for an excuse to get a 3D printer to mess around with. Maybe this is it.

I haven’t but you’ve got my attention. I’ll sketch something up after my trip next week.

The only Thingverse file I found so far makes the fob bigger to hold an extra key in a hidden compartment.

For reference, this is the fob case I bought for my BRZ:

This is the YT video I found:

I watched the video. I see what you want now. You'll be screwed when the battery is dead and you need to open the door:(

See my initial post above. I want smaller, like my Subaru remote pictured, not adding more layers.

It's a risk, sure. But to be honest, I've never had a completely dead battery anywhere but at home where I have access to my second fob and physical key.

I came out of
Wally and car would not start. Not dead battery in car, but dead battery in FOB. I was able to get into car with emergency key, went back into Wally and bought new battery. Good luck, it is a sick feeling when you push the button and nothing happens.

Yeah, definitely still a risk. One reason I never take a proximity key out of my pocket and push buttons. Don't need much power if you use the button on the door handle. And once you're in, the car will still start with a dead fob. Just have to put it in the right spot (rear cup holder).

Do these cars not give you any kind of warning? The BRZ would pop up a 'key fob battery low' warning in the cluster.

If it did give me a warning, I did not see it.

Been in this boat. It tells you on the DIC "Warning. Replace FOB battery soon" or something of that sort. Mine popped up 3 or 4 times before it left me stranded. It evens dings to alert you. I happened to be at a CVS and was able to buy what I needed. Reason number 101 why I carry a pocket knife on me as a woman because it was needed to open the case off amazon to replace the battery.

Well...I bought a cheap/beginner printer. Flashforge Adventurer 5M. Only $160. Took maybe 30 min to set up/calibrate/run first print. Pretty easy so far.

Printed the fob in the video above. I need to learn how to use Fusion CAD and then I'll make edits to the file. Currently it's functional, but it needs some refining.

Are the buttons mostly recessed?
