CEL and fan at high speed after CAI and oil CC install
I just installed a Rotofab CAI and an Elite E2 3 port oil CC. I used the Elite supplied GM style quick connects for the PCV connection and vacuum connection on the throttle body. The lower PCV connection is to the center inlet side of the CC. I have a plug in the intake tube where the sound tube would be with threaded hole and a 90 degree elbow threaded in for the 3rd port in the CC. Both check valves on the outlet side of the CC are pointed away from the CC. I did forget to disconnect the battery when unplugging the MAF to install the CAI.The CAI install was without issue following all of the rest of the instructions provided by Rotofab. I don’t have the codes yet which I will pull tomorrow with my scanner. Vacuum leak? Damaged my MAF? Incorrectly routed CC lines? Any thoughts appreciated.

Total guess, but I would imagine the CC lines may be routed wrong, the CAI should have zero effect on anything in this situation...

unmetered air entering the engine. Recheck your install and connections.

Its really rare for me to disconnect the battery on cars when I'm working on them and probably 90% of the time i will get a MAF code on GM cars when i need to unplug them to access something.
I would guess you have codes for mass air circuit and intake air temp circuit and probably barometeric circuit fault codes. That will need to be cleared with a scanner/code reader. In my case I usually plan on doing a post repair scan of the vehicle so that's why i don't waste my time unplugging the battery. I would do yourself a favor and put some dielectric grease on the plastic of the MAF connector so that when you plug it in the rubber seal will slide in place freely instead of biding most of the way down and trying to roll. Ive had several cars come in after air filter changes from oil change shops with MAF connectors not seated all the way because of that. Also check your throttle body connector. |

Thanks all . . . A simple reset. I pulled the negative on the battery last night to shut the fan up. After work today hooked up my scanner ready to do battle and nothing. No codes and car seems to be running fine. I evidently jumped the gun . . . It apparently was a MAF disconnect that needed to get back online. So again appreciate the responses folks.

I purchased the Elite AOS and when installed with their system it tied into the vacuum line that is also part of the pump for the brake booster. This setup not only caused a change in pedal feel but the canister seemed to not collect much oil vapor. Its now sitting on a shelf with the rest of the parts I have bought to see if they work.
Funny thing... the Evil Energy dual can setup for $30ea on Amazon have worked better than every other high dollar setup, placing them in series to the OEM AOS that drains to the crankcase. Only now since racing competitively with my car have I explored the Improved Racing 0.5L CCR and added the drainback function so it is a truly closed system as the OEM was. This setup is still in development and we will test it this year in the GridLife Track Battle series. The brackets have three holes for mounting the Improved Racing CCRs or you can modify your existing setup to make it fit. https://patriotmotorsportsusa.com/pr...unting-bracket |
