low side fuel pressure loss
To start off I have a 2019 ZL1 1LE- mostly track car- Last weekend went to Road America for the first time. the first couple sessions the track was wet, so obviously not going fast. On the third session just starting to pick up some speed and learn the track and experienced low side fuel pressure loss coming out of the carousel, after a second It picked back up and was fine down the long straights. Tank was 1/2 full. Came in and topped off fuel thinking maybe all the fuel sloshed over to the left. I run about 50% E85, next time out the same thing with the tank full- fine on straights but pressure drop coming out of the carousel. I had this same problem about 2 years ago and replaced fuel driver, jet pump and installed OG fuel solutions 400lph in tank pump. Car has been running flawlessly for the last couple years until now. The car has less than 9000 miles on it, and why would it maintain low side pressure on straights when I'm full throttle for seems like forever and lose pressure while maintaining speed with much lower demand only on right hand turns with a full tank of fuel? Has anyone had this issue on right handers on track?

I never had an issue with my ZL1 on track. My local track has a carousel also that I take around 80 MPH (both direction CW/CCW) My car made 731 whp on E30 blend. I was running a Katech duel pump setup in tank. My experience was the opposite, I could run my car down to the fuel light came on and still never had fuel starve issues. I switched to an SS 1LE now, and run faster times than I did in my ZL1.
Heat soak was my only issue with the ZL1.

FWIW (just another data point), I have much the same experience as Rapid_blue: my SS 1LE has always has consistent fuel flow down to the warning light. I literally just got back from a weekend at NCM in Bowling Green, and it has two long, sustained high-speed right-handers (Turns 5 and 15) plus the sinkhole turn 18/19 (slower ~220-degree turn with a steep dropoff), and as usual there were no issues. I think something is wrong with your car. I don't know what these gas tanks look like inside, but I wonder if there's a missing or broken baffle in yours.

The low pressure pump pulls from a roughly 1 quart cup at the bottom of the fuel pump assembly. Its gravity fed from its bottom and open on the top to alow fuel to spill over into it. The design is to eliminate the need for tank baffling.

this is a link to what I am running- it's capable of 400lph
ad you can see it is similar to stock LT4 pump and uses the factory jet pump I also must say I have had no issues for about 2 years- and only on right handers- after a second or 2 on the straights it maintains pressure all the way to the next turn- https://www.ogfuelsolutions.com/prod...ge/frankenpump |
