Why no just use your phone. If you have unlimited wireless put in on the windshield, cup holder and you can get wherever you want to go. I don't want it taking up my screen.

We have wireless car play in our Atlas. First time I experienced it was in a rental Blazer. It makes OEM Nav pretty much pointless.

And the updates are really only needed to find new businesses by name or addresses due to new construction. But Apple and Google obviously already have that which is wireless connectivity is great.

A friend was a manager in electrical at GM and I remember him telling me several years ago that in a few years you could just hop in your car and your phone would just pop up on the display. Seemed far fetched at the time.

So far the only minus I have found by not ordering Ruby with factory NAV is something I didn't even think would be missing, the HUD screen that has the speed limit & current speed on it. I really liked that and it saved me a couple of times. Sure would like that back because I use the HUD all the time

I have a 2020 camaro 3LT with the plus infotainment not with navigation and I bought the SD card and there is a SD slot in the center console and I plugged it in and nothing happened. It's a little stressful. I don't know what to do. I just want the speed limit on my cluster and hud. what do i do?

Is the SD card that you purchased the original GM kit in the OP? Did it come with a software update voucher (or code)?

On a related note, the AAWireless unit I purchased in 2021 has been working like an absolute charm in my pre-refresh 2SS. Fast, flawless, reliable, connection never drops or glitches, reconnection is super quick, came with an actually useful (old school) app, I absolutely love it.

When I get in the car, I plop my phone on the wireless charging pad or just drop it into the $5 "supercar" phone net I velcro'd to the carpeted side of the tunnel, and off I go... the moment I turn on the radio, the Android Auto icon is already there.

All i did was order the part using the part number. there was no voucher or code i checked the software updates in my car and i had none. the car gave me a notification that a sd card was there but there was nothing i could do. could i have missed the code or something?

Sorry, I don't know (I have a 2018 with a different infotainment system and nav software), just thought if a car was sold without nav and GM offered an upgrade kit, chances are it isn't just an SD card but also a software update. Similarly, the GM performance cold air intake came with a code that the dealership could use to update the calibration (once).

This part number (84954482) redirects to new part number 86775533 that brings up a "navigation data card" product in the catalog that is "designed to provide route guidance and map data", so it feels like it's only the map. Then again, maybe that's all it should take, someone with a 2019+ may know more.

The way map updates worked on the 2016-2018 is that you plugged the USB drive with the update you purchased, the stick was VIN coded to your car, and once you plugged it in, the infotainment system automatically started the installation and displayed messages and a progress indicator. If nothing happens when you insert the SD card, and you still don't see the navigation icon in the main screen, then it feels like a piece is missing.

As arpad_m am said I think you only purchased the maps data upgrade which simply updates the the navigation to reflect New roads and new speed limits. Having previously research the radios in our cars as I wanted to wireless Android auto I can tell you a lot of the hardware is the same between different trim levels it's just the software that's different. Since curious I walked into this a little more. The original navigation upgrade kit looks like it came with an SD card with the maps data and a code to authorize the dealership to reprogram your radio. So if you do in fact have an IOS radio and still want to add navigation I think you have a couple of options.
  • reach out to dealer and see if can or will perform a software upgrade on your radio even without a code
  • contact White automotive media and get your radio programmed for navigation or buy an upgraded unit will also give you navigation and wireless Android auto if you're interested in that
  • purchase a third party OBD programmer that will add navigation to your radio such as OBD genie

For reference here is link to a thread on Silverado trucks talking about upgrading the radios and with similar radios the process seems like it would also be similar

I have the Carsifi one and it, too, is solid. I tend to have to set it up each spring when the car comes out of storage because I've changed to a new phone over the winter, but otherwise... lol

I can recommend the OBD Genie. My 2022 Camaro SS did not come with NAV. I purchased the OBD Genie and it reprogrammed my system to have NAV. It also came with the map card. It works great.

the whole reason i did all of this for the nav was because i just want the speed limit to show up. that's all. and i have everything on my camaro but that. it's driving me insane.
