Cool Patriot MotorSports Solves the iDash Pro ethanol issue!!

There is an easy fix for the Bank iDash Pro to work if you want to see the Ethanol Content. I was blessed by Banks sending me a set of the new iDash Pros for both my GridLife Track Battle Car and the Project Shocker we just delivered to it's owner yesterday.

I would recommend buying the two gauge pod from ZZPerformance and if you do not already have an iDash DataMonster (Gen1), get one! Run the MASTER Cable to this gauge first and then jumper to the iDash Pro like I did in the photo below. This way you can get all the PIDs to function on the gauges!! Quite honestly, now that the new one is out... there are dozens of the Gen1 iDash DataMonsters out there from the diesel guys at massively discounted pricing since they do not need half the PIDs we do.

Yes the update is coming for everyone else soon, but the iDash is worth the wait!!

I am told Ethanol will be added mid to late May... with the final firmware update coming in June to all most sensors to be able to connect directly the the PRO without the 4 channel adapter. Hope this helps.

I agree it was unfortunate that they started shipping the PRO's with so many PID's missing, and I know some people will have had to wait 2 months for the final firmware update. I like to think the technology, information and value packed into these gauges was worth the waiting but thats just my 2 cents.

update - Latest firmware doesnt include E that just got released.

They said they are looking for people close to them with "camaros" so they can have their engineers test and build it out.

sooooo we wait some more.

I am one of those "camaros" Banks shipped several iDash Pros to test. I had to install mine the day before a scheduled track day test prior to the GridLife at Carolina Motorsports Park. I was on the phone with Banks for hours as we tried multiple options to try to get the PIDs for ethanol to work. When all options were exhausted, I removed one of the iDash Pros and removed the remaining one from being the "Master" and used my older Gen1 iDash as the Master and the new Gen2 as the Slave. This was the ONLY way to get the new gauge to work. I had hoped to use it for data logging while on track but the PIDs do not communicate from the Gen1 to the Gen2 and neither iDash units will function while using HPTuners.

As I finish another stage on my ZLE to test products, I will let everyone know the truth on what works and what does not.

Correct, in an effort to release the PRO sooner, Banks decided to release "missing some PID's" that would be released in future updates. (just like what Apple did with the iPhone)

I hate that strategy also, BTW.
Unfortunately, Ethanol ended up being at the end of the list.
Banks is getting a donor car this week to test the update prior to releasing.
My guess is that it will be released in the next 10-14 days.

Fingers crossed

I’m one of the people testing the new firmware version that has Ethanol enabled. It works. Should be out soon.
