Camaro infotainment issues!
Hello everyone,
I have a 2024 Camaro RS, Ever since I bought the car last year I have been having issues with the Infotainment system, Such as freezing, Can't turn up or lower the volume, Back up camera stuck on after I start driving and many other issues, I have to park and turn the car on and off about 3 or 4 times until it starts to work properly! I even got On star to do the whole reset and was on the phone with them for over an hour, did this a couple of times and nothing worked, Even tried not using USB for music, bought 4 different usb drives and drove the car with nothing plugged in thinking it could be a usb issue, still same issues. I know this issue has been discussed, But I just need some advice from you guys after I talked to the dealer today as they offered to change the unit now but not sure if I should have the whole dash removed for a new unit only to have the problem happen again, or If i should wait for another update! Thank you Last edited by Vetteguy8; 05-11-2025 at 12:01 AM. |

I do not have issues like you're explaining. I've never had it crash, volume and controls always works. I use a USB stick to play music, no issues. Worst I've seen is it's laggy for the first minute or so after starting the car. After that it's fine.
It seems more like an issue with your infotainment unit. If it was a known software issue that needs fixing then it would affect others as well. |

Does your radio stay on after you park the car, turn it off, and open the driver's door (the last part is important)? If so, there is a pending over-the-air update that you need to install and it MAY fix the issue.
Similarly, you can navigate your way into the Infotainment menus to look for an OTA update and install it. Again, it MAY fix the issues. When I first bought my 2020 SS, I had quite a few weird issues (nothing major, and not really the same as what you're describing) that were mostly corrected simply by applying a pending OTA update. It would be worth checking out, especially if you keeps you from having to hand the keys to a dealer again... |

My radio does the same thing, every now and then, drives me crazy. Takes several off/on cycles to "fix". But, the steering wheel controls do still work, when touch screen does not.

They have updates available, see the dealer. Tell them to check and update the software.

My personal experience with dealerships is that they actually WON'T update software on the Infotainment unless A) there is a specific malfunction that they can reproduce and B) GM explicitly states that the software must be updated to correct it. I have been fighting this battle with my 2024 Sliverado because they refuse to update the software to the latest build even though it fixes two very specific issues I am having with the Infotainment system on my truck and it's WELL within the bumper to bumper warranty.

They told me they did the newest update just last week when they did the Customer satisfaction program for BCM. |

Go into the Infotainment menus to find the pending update and install it. And if that stops the radio from remaining on after you open the door (and hopefully fixes the issues), it's just one more example of dealership techs being completely ignorant about how the vehicles work.

It said my vehicle is up to date! No new update is available, Should I just go ahead and have them replace the unit? Do they have to remove the middle console and whole dash to remove this thing?

If your radio is doing what I described (park, turn car off, open driver's door - radio remains ON after these three steps are followed in order), and there is no OTA update available to install, then something else is wrong and there's at least a reasonable chance that the unit needs to be replaced. One thing I have learned is that OTA updates can fix issues, but they can also cause them (by way of corrupting things from wrong or bad software being installed or downloads not occurring properly and the installer is corrupted to start). I no longer allow OTA updates on my Silverado after it almost bricked the truck on me (and actually DID do this to a number of other owners) and GM issued a recall to replace the module that was corrupted on mine during an install gone bad...

I had the BCM update. My touch screen still locks up every now and then.

I guess it is best then to have GM replace it!
How hard is it to replace? |
