Nitto 555Rii 325/50R15

What air pressure are you running in this tire?

The shop put 15# in them. I spun them in 3rd a bunch of times to start their break-in. They've got 15 miles. On today's moderately aggressive race gas-only tune, the tire won't hold from 40mph in 4th, spin a moderate amount from 50mph, but do hold from 60mph.

Not sure what your ambient temps are but being a drag radial they will need some heat in them to get best results. Honestly, you're not going to get any better tire for daily driving. The MT ET Street R is street legal but not a great street driven tire although it is likely the only tire that is going to hold the power you're making, and even then, they may still spin some without heating them first.

I agree. It looks like I'll be on the Rii around town and MT ET Street R at the strip. I'm impressed with how quickly the traction came in on this Nitto. It was awful on the way home from the shop, but got a lot better with a few moderate burnouts, and should get a little better from where it is today. It didn't feel like either tire would hold the meth dyno power on the street.

I have to do something about traction as well. My car rips the tires constantly through 4th and part of 5th. Having the kind of power doesn't mean anything if your just smoke'n the tires. So probably in my near future are: Weld Racing Laguna 6 Beadlock S923 17x10 +25) and M/T Street R's (as fat as will fit). I don't drive my car in any questionable weather or when there is even the slightest chance. So... probably keep them on all the time and thus will need wheels that look good.

The 325/50R15 is the largest diameter tire that will fit mine, and even it rubs the lining a bit (until it rubbed holes)

There is NO TIRE IN EXISTENCE that is going to HOOK that kind of POWER on a UNPREPPED SURFACE under 50mph. Leave the nannies on or turn it down for the street. Smooth boost would make it easy to dial power up and down.

The ET R will hook better for a short period until the street tears up the tread pattern and the rubber balls up. You might get 500-1000mi before this happens.

Wouldn't it be nice to have all this information encapsulated in an app.

You'd give it your car model, tire specs, dyno graph, and it would tell you the minimum hooking speed with various surfaces. Or vice versa, you'd give it your desired hooking speed and surface, and it would respond with max torque/power numbers.

That way we'd all know when to stop upgrading

I just asked the shop for a quote on smooth boost. I agree about nannies, because if they're off, I have to use a moderate gas-only tune. Mickey is strip-only.

You and a few others here have given me good advice on this car for four years. Thanks again.

I'm having a hard time keeping air in these tires. I put 25 in them and they're down to 12 the next day. Anyone had this problem?
