How does remote tuning work exactly? Do you just buy the hp tuner obd2 thing and credits and then the tuner sends you a file?

Pretty much lol. You use the MPVI (currently MPVI3 but earlier ones still work) to download your tune. Email it off to the tuner who then modifies it depending on your mods and emails you the new tune. When you go to upload your new tune, you’ll pay the credit fee to HP Tuners. Then you can flash that ECM as often as you want at no extra charge to HPT.

King did mine a couple years back, it took a few revisions but it was a quick process. It is still running great.

The laptop will need to be connected to the internet the first time you try to flash the tune, since it’ll need to connect to HP Tuners to license the ECM. Subsequent flashes you won’t. You do need internet access to flash TCM tunes every time though.
