Thinking about getting a Magnuson 2650R, which one?
I thought Layno15's setup was almost the perfect setup. Which version of the Magnuson supercharger should I get? The complete LT1 version or the much cheaper LT4 version? The car is a 2023 SS. I also already have the hp tuners MPI2. I have headers and exhaust that are currently on my 2017.
Are the 103mm snout and throttle body worth adding? I don't think Layno15 has them. Seems like his car made more than enough power. Thanks |

Oh, ok thanks. I wasn't really sure what all the differences were. I was thinking 700ish wheel. I also live in south Florida where it is hot a lot.

A big part of laynlo15’s build was being able to run E85. At a minimum, add LT4 in tank pump w/JMS voltage booster, LT4 HPFP, and LT4 injectors so that you can run some E. It will help your stock LT1 bottom end live a lot longer, not to mention make a lot more power.

Laynlo had a 2300 on his last car. You are going to need more than LT4 fuel system to run any amount of E @ 700whp. With a stock cam you will need +30's, Big Bore HPFP, JMS booster for you low side pump which should already be a LT4. Then you will be able to run E50-60. Or do Port injection.

I forgot that Laynlo had a couple builds. Yes I was referring the the last or the 2300 build that made 707.
I thought the port injection was the most budget friendly and worked well. Is that no longer the case? I believe E85 is available locally. Could the smooth boost (I think that was what it was called) be used to keep hp lower, maybe 600 for running pump gas then when the need arises add E85 and turn off smooth boost to reach the higher hp level? |

I was making 670 with heads/cam/2650 @ 6psi and used an aux pump. It ran well on 93 or e85. That's really as far as I wanted to go with a stock bottom end LT1 To run 13psi, I had a forged bottom end installed, then added meth for safety and a dual in tank system to make 864. To get that beyond 15psi (~900rwhp), we'd need larger injectors and a bigger HPFP or a plate system to keep it fueled. Also, more ribs to prevent slipping.

Thanks again. I e-mailed Toohighpsi and they also said that I would need low side support which is usually done by adding an auxiliary fuel pump (in addition to the plates/controller/plate injectors). They also said auxiliary pump can be controlled by the reflex controller.
At this point I am not very familiar with how these fuel systems work but is there a separate fuel pump for the high pressure and low pressure. Any suggestions as to which auxiliary pump? Thanks |

There are some dual drop-in tank solutions now that appear to be working well. Both DSX and Katech offer them. Or you can do the DSX aux kit if you desire. Either will work but the in-tank setup is a more "OEM" solution...no need to tap a hole in the tank, and you don't have to worry about running the car hard with a 1/4 tank of fuel and starving the fuel system. Mainly an issue for road course stuff.

Are you referring to the Katech Goliath pump and the DSX dual in tank pump set up. I saw something about Katech having a dual pump setup but there was an issue with the supplier. The Katech Goliath is $3,000 and the DSX is $2,000. This stuff sure adds up? Kind of crazy. I saw there was a Deatschwerks – X2 kit? Would that work. So with the port injection and no low pressure support do you think you could safely make 625ish rwhp? What would the addition of these pumps allow you to safely make? Thanks

Thanks for all the help. Kind of bummed out about needing the fuel pump on top of everything else.
I did some searches so I am not as clueless about the fuel systems and options. A lot of the same people responding to this thread provided some really good information on previous threads. The stock system does seem pretty capable especially on an NA build. Thought about a an NA build but the drivability is always a huge factor. Maybe do the supercharger and port injection for a more modest setup and add a pump down the road. I thought about the ZL1 but had a hard time justifying paying that much for a car. They are definately nice cars though. On top of that to race it. Seems like the ZL1 has the same fueling issues once you go beyond a certain point. |
