Try the water pump. I had a leak in the same area. Turned out it was the water pump weep hole.

Suggest you also check out the hoses. I had two different hose-related leaks in the last 2 yrs. One was a faulty hose clamp. The other was a hose with a pin-hole. Both would only leak under hot pressure, which made them harder to find. How can a hose fail in only 3 years? I've no f-ing clue. I've currently own 3 other vehicles 19, 14, and 9 yrs old and all of them still have their original hoses.

Hose leaks are easiest to find if you make sure the engine bay is clean. Then after driving the car, look for a spray pattern on the engine components and the underside of the hood. If there is spray, the pattern should help you get pretty close to the source. If you don't see anything, that mostly means the leak is lower in the engine bay or facing directly downward.

I think it’s losing coolant through the weep holes on the expansion tank when it gets hot. The lower tank is filled to top near those holes when hot and under tank shoes sign of coolant. I now run a little coolant in lower tank and will monitor. I don’t drive car much, not daily driver. I did just change oil and noticed a lower hose below that looked suspicious but wasn’t in mood to deal with it then

Just to compliment this post, my lower tank had too much fluid in it and was filled to about an inch from the top and it has taken me awhile to figure out that the fluid was expanding during operation and leaking out the two holes in the top of the bottom tank. As a result, I bought a $6 siphon and siphoned the coolant out of the bottom tank until it was at the cold fill line

Glad that was an easy fix for you!
